Parents Hate My College Choice

Moviebuff, I like your style. You’d scare an immigrant parent from Michigan, but i like your style.

You have to choose the school where you will be most comfortable. After all it is going to be your home for the next four years. You are the one who has to live there and live through the experiences not your parents.

Perhaps you can remind your parents that grades count when applying to medical school, and you are likely to get better grades at the place at which you are most comfortable and happiest.

i remember having to justify going to brown over yale to my parents (also immigrants for what that is worth, who had heard of yale long before they knew brown existed). once i made my choice and committed to it, they came around and once i my matriculated to brown they never mentioned it again. now, in retrospect, based on my experiences they agree it was a wonderful choice for me. i say go with your gut

Do what the hell your heart tell you. Only you will be able to live your own life and not your parents. THEY aren’t going to have to live with that decision but YOU will!

Thanks for all your advice!!!
