Awesome- those are all great schools. Lesley has so many great programs. Endicott is beautiful (have you visited yet?). All those schools are particularly strong for their education programs- not sure if she wants to do education but if so, she picked some great schools. Congrats on her acceptance to Lesley.
She wants to become an art teacher eventually, UNE is the only one with art education, but they all have art AND education. We are also hoping for a CIC (similar to tuition exchange) match, so they are all schools on ‘the list,’ and we have been able to visit all - they are all ~4 hours from home, so “away” but close-in-emergency, which she really likes.
We have been waiting for 4 months…
USF decisions will be released starting on Friday. It is our match school and it is getting anxious!
Next week will be FSU, a reach…
This time of the year is stressful with the holidays and the new year.
Good luck to all in the same boat.
Journey may continue till February (UF) depending on the results in the next 8 days.
With acceptance from FIU, he can go to Miami. We don’t know if USF will admit in Tampa or one of the other campuses like St.Pete or Sarasota…
Exciting times!
Fingers crossed for your kid! The waiting is really hard!
We got an email from the senior counselor at school with an official ‘save the date!’ notification for graduation, which will be on 5/16 at 6:00 pm.
Everybody’s being asked to submit 4 digital photos of the student to the senior counselor to be used in a photo montage during graduation.
S24 got into USF Tampa (main campus)! Go Bulls!
Congrats! S24 also got admitted into USF for Engineering just a few minutes ago. 3.5W / 1270 SAT (superscore).
It is a big relief for us parents! We’ll continue on our journey as we wait for FSU on Tuesday and then UF in February.
USF is our match and our family’s 1st choice.
Just 2 months ago, before the 1st acceptance, I was wondering about asking S24 to apply to 3-5 more schools. He was sticking to the 5 schools he applied. Now, it is 3 acceptances out of the 5 applied with 2 more to go.
As of now, we have started with Plan A to enroll in USF with 1st semester study abroad in France (if possible).
This evening, D24 said a couple of interesting things:
- “I can’t believe that regular in person school is done in 2 months. I don’t want to think about it. I’m not ready to be an adult yet. I’d like to be a kid for a little bit longer.”
- “I’m excited about a senior project, but it’s also scary because it means that high school will be done soon.”
- “I don’t think I’ll be driving home on breaks. I’ll fly home instead.”
Your school is done in two months?
Yep! Last day of in person school is 2/9 and then their senior projects start. Those go through early May. Then graduation is mid-May!
Wow. Our state doesn’t do senior projects. I can’t say I am unhappy about that. We also go until the first week of June so out a little later than most.
Not all of the schools in our area do it this way, just the group of charter schools we’re in seem to.
I’m not sure if it is the right thread, on researching, USF is part of the verto program for studying abroad. The courses are equivalent to USF and conducted by University of New Haven in English.
Verto locations for Fall '24 doesn’t include France, after deliberation we are leaning towards Florence, Italy… (parents are planning a pizza getaway )
Has anyone done this? I need to search as someone mentioned about study abroad before.
Seems like we can use Bright Futures for it too! (Won’t cover fully but every bit helps)
Anyone else anxious about EA results? D24 is pretty confident she will get accepted, I swing between OF COURSE she will be accepted to “but someone has to be the 20% that aren’t!” Even with 80%+ acceptance rate schools I am trying to figure out where she fits in there… all decisions should be in within the next two weeks, and then we can go to the next step…
D24 isn’t close to finding a school that would cause anxiety on admissions. The anxiety is from not have a college she likes enough to be anxious about getting into…
I totally get it with the 80% admissions rates. Someone didn’t cross a t or dot an i on the application, definitely could be my D.
I hear ya! We’re waiting on 2 remaining schools’ decisions, but will have to wait awhile before we get those! They are in the 70-80% acceptance rate range and with stuff like this, I can be a Negative Nancy because you know what they say…it ain’t over until it’s over!
Meanwhile, my DH keeps bugging me with “So where does D24 want to go to college?” and I keep telling him to chill out until 2024. He doesn’t understand why D24 doesn’t have her heart set on 1 particular place. I think she’s kind of guarding her heart about it all in order to not end up disappointed if where she really wants to go ends up to be some place she either didn’t get into OR isn’t affordable.
1st response from a college = Acceptance!
DD2024 was just accepted to her safety with:
- Dean’s Scholarship of half tuition
- some study abroad $4K scholarship
- Honors College
wooohooo!
Congrats to your daughter!
We’re doing a college visit to Centre College at the end of January and D24 is also going to do her vocal scholarship audition at that time. We’ve never been to Kentucky, so it’ll be an adventure!
