Moda, just talked to H and he is fine. He finished before 1:50 (great time fortunately) so was well away and already back in Lexington when it happened. They are watching local coverage now. I will go turn on the news.

Very glad your H is okay, TA. He’s the first person I thought of. Scary stuff.

Yes, TA, Thanks for checking in. I thought of you right away and glad your husband is okay. So sorry to hear there are losses and injuries in this. So sad and scary.

so glad TA, Shaw??? D ok? D2 was a half mile away, she and friends are ok, she is pretty upset.

I have been mesmerized since this broke through and feel I can finally breath knowing that your husband is ok… and yes… great time. Good for him. And beyond the tragedy I would like to offer a sincere congratulations as that’s an impressive feat for sure. News is saying this might end up being like Oklahoma City in that there was no threats to speak of. But I can tell you one thing for sure… had I been there and knew a bomb had gone off or something similar, I would not have stood there videotaping… I would have started walking as far away from crowds that I could. It’s not that I wouldn’t be helpful to people if hurt around me, but I definitely wouldn’t have walked TOWARDS mayhem!

So ridiculously sad and so scary… all I can say is, whomever did this was really stupid. You simply don’t tick off Bostonians who are only second to NYC in their ability to whoop some a$$ when challenged.

So sorry DTE… how so very scary for them… surely a brush with mortality is nothing we ever want our kids to experience. So so sorry.

TA, so very glad your H is okay - McH told me and I had to swallow hard before checking the thread. My friend’s husband is also fine, and was also finished well before.
I’m glad you ladies have FAST men ;)

I’m going to leave it there, lest I begin a rant when I am here on overtime already.

Just rushed home and turned the TV on. TA…OMG! I thought of your H right away. So very glad he is safe.

shaw…hope your D is safe!!!

dte…thank heavens your D is safe. Sending prayers for all. This violence just has to stop.

Just saw the news about Boston, thanks for checking in, analyst and dte, glad they are OK.

shaw and c_q, and anyone else in the area/family members there, please check in.

This bombing is sick. Am so tired of this kind of thing, what is wrong with people?

In other news…S’s graduation is held outside rain or shine. They will have remote viewing inside, but I won’t know if I will wear fishing boats or flats until that time comes. Not sure about D’s graduation but I think its inside regardless- maybe I should ask her about tickets. Son also didn’t have to order nor do they pay for cap and gown, whereas D did and has.

I texted D as soon as I heard - she’s fine; her campus is on the marathon route and they had the day off. I assumed she would just stay on campus, but it’s always good to have confirmation! Her bf came to her campus for the marathon to experience it there. His fraternity brothers felt the explosion pretty strongly. She also checked with a friend who was running and she’s fine, too. Very upsetting.

TA, glad to hear that your H is okay. D was planning to go back to the race finish around the time the explosions occurred, but because so many people had been there earlier when she first went, she decided to stay in Cambridge for the afternoon. TG. She has also been distressed by this–friends in the area, one with cuts. I had suggested she go, too. H and I are very glad her timing was off. Hoping for the best for the victims, and that the sick person(s) responsible are caught.

CQ so glad, and PM. They have Brigham and Womens on lockdown, wondering what is going on? I have a number of friends running the marathon for charity,I am waiting on one. Many of the nurses were there to either observe or work in the medcal tents. Family members there to support. What is wrong wth people?. I was just talking to D and her friend in DC that it could happen anywhere anytime, as they say they constantly think about it happening there. D1 called us really worried.

dte, I think about DC too. My sons met their aunt at the finish line of the Rock and Roll Marathon last month in DC (she did the 1/2 marathon). S1 lives in DC and S2 was there for part of his spring break. She has already said she is doing it next year. What happened today is really terrible.

Thanks for checking in c_q and plantmom.

As many of you know, I live near DC. It crosses my mind, especially when I am downtown or on public transportation. It’s a scary world.

What these kinds of incidents bring up that is so scary is the randomness of it all. Violence can and does happen anywhere. Tomorrow is the anniversary of Virginia Tech-an idyllic, peaceful campus with friendly students and loyal alumni. Never would have imagined something so horrific would happen there. Sorry for what Boston is going through today.

Te wayI think of it, it happens to us us all. Just want toknow Shaw D is ok.

Shaw D ok too!

ShawD is also OK. She was at home so a bit away as well. Very upsetting.

So glad your daughter is okay, shawbridge. Yes,very upsetting.

glad to see all of your family members are safe. so horrific, a very dark day for our country.
