Parents of the HS Class of 2009 (Part 1)

Hey, so you got a son for your Birthday! Can’t wait to hear the details.

Eddie haha, congrats NMD
Yes D1 with the award, but D2 is on the deans list.
Glad ShawD is feeling better.
MP I hear you, when my H took care of Mothers Day, I dreaded it. Lets just say, it was sad. Not because my H is a jerk either, just he does not have a thoughtful gene. Now my expectations are less, and D’s take over.

NM that’s so exciting!

Wow - grads, awards, jobs and job interviews, and engagements… Congrats!

Congratulations, NM!!! Such wonderful news!

Congratulations on the engagement, NM!

Good luck to S2,TA!

Congrats on the awards, dte and peonies!

Now praying for Job Mojo !

Exciting news, NM!

Can you all send good thoughts towards D tomorrow, please? She has an interview - it would be huge if she got it! She’s also still waiting to hear back on another interview. Originally they said they would make a decision at the beginning of the month. She finally heard back they expect to make a decision in the next couple of weeks. She’s sort of hoping all the other candidates will have taken other positions by then!

For both, the fact she is even being selected for an interview is incredible. The one tomorrow supposedly had over 7,000 applicants. It’s probably too much to hope for she is actually offered a position!

Oh. My. God. Northminn! That is sooooo exciting!! Congratulations to the lucky young man and best wishes to the bride!!

And best wishes, prayers, vibes, etc and so forth for c_q’s D tomorrow!

Life is good!

Wow, congratulations NM. When it rains, it pours.

Positive energy waves to c-q D.

NM–SO exciting!
cq–fairy dust on it’s way!

MANY thanks to the support here lately towards me --diamonds in your crowns for sure for being so kind and supportive.

Sending the good vibes out to dte D and c_q D as well as analyst S.

And oregon, continuing to send you peace and strength.

Firing up the mojo machine for TA S2 and CQ D on their job interviews! Then onto the happy wedding mojo for NM (and imminently, Moda, of course.)
Then some “best decision” mojo for sabaray h on the job and logistics. Then sending all that leftover mojo to the rest so there’s some extra in store for post grad shenanigans.

Mcson had a good client review of his video yesterday, which they loved, and wherein queries were made about his availability for future work. This group is a startup of sorts, so
we’ll see what comes of it, but if they hit with this new product it could be a good connection as there are a few money-types involved.

He just has some clean up and file conversion now, then he’s off to Ann Arbor for a break/post grad hangin’ with his gf before she heads back to SF for her internship at the end of the month…and of course, job search. Truly, if any of us had the nerves for it, he’d probably end up making more money and working (enjoyably) less if he just started truly freelancing, eg. He would have had to work for a good few weeks at typical entry level jobs to make as much as he did on this video in 50 hours. I guess the direction will unfold.

Crossing fingers and toes and sending good mojo to everyone who needs it today!

H accepted the job. Lots to figure out in the next few weeks, but it looks like split households for at least some period of time. We’ll still probably see each other more than we currently do!

We do after prom, but after graduation 1/2 the seniors head to the beach and get houses for the week. They were doing this when I was in high school 25 years ago. I keep reminding my D I wasn’t allowed to go back in the day, but she can’t wait. Yet another right of passage for me to deal with. Why am I so sad?!?!?

And sending the good vibes for kmc S on the video.

Sabaray - congrats to your H and I hope that this is a good thing and works out well for both of you.

Sending more positive thoughts to c-q’s D, and to everyone else who is dealing with a job search and interviews!! Best wishes to all in this time of transition for so many of our family members and friends!

Sending fabulousness vibes to cqD and TAS2. 7,000 applicants cq? Good grief!

Sabaray, hoping everything works out well for you, your H and his job.

Last night Son reported on the grad party he attended. Because he had to work, most people had left by the time he arrived. Of 5 guys he spent the evening with (except the grad, most in the “acquaintance” category), all from the HS class of '09, only 2 had graduated. These were all guys who were in the middle school GT program, NHS, HS AP classes., etc. Two of them had gone away to expensive schools and lost their merit aid and had to come home. One had mental health issues, took a year off, went back and managed to get himself expelled. All four of the non-graduates are “taking classes” and living at home, but I think Son is the only one who is also working. The grad party honoree has a drinking problem (but still managed good grades.) Once again, good grief!

Good grief indeed, MP.

Best of luck to all who are interviewing. Very few of D’s friends from high school seemed to have jobs lined up so far. I know the economy is supposed to be better now than it was, but I’m not sure that is saying a whole lot…

D moves this week, and starts her job Monday. It is going to be very weird to drop her from our health insurance. We got to see the new digs, and the town where she’ll be living has no shortage of money for civic purposes – the maintenance of parks, civic areas and streetscapes puts ours to shame, though I notice that they don’t expend much effort in the lower-income areas.

Things not to name your beauty salon #42: “The New Ewe” – eeew, is all I can say. What were they thinking?

That’s terrific! Older D, just finishing her sophomore year of college, is sort of freaking out at the idea of joining the adult world of work. Some of her older HS friends have now graudated and it’s sinking in that the prolonged adolescence of this era may be coming to an end. But glad she’s wrapping her head around it now.
