oops meant UCs start end of Sept

Cali_Mom, maybe Sept 21st? Or do you need a few days to buy limes and snacks?

I am willing to bring limes.

Quick question, my neighbor asked me about USNWR rankings and when they come out with the new one for 2010. Does anyone know that?

Son got an email from one of the coaches asking about medical forms. We sent those back in way back in late June. I tried calling the health office, but they are closed until sept 4. Tip: If you send in health forms, make copies. I did not and since S plays a sport and I don’t want any issues, I am going to print out the forms all over again and go beg his dr office to fill it out AGAIN so S has a copy of them in his stuff. I already had his immunization records copied, but never thought to copy these particular forms. Unreal.

The USNWR rankings came out today. If you go over to the 2010 thread, they are all over it.

Hey, Moda - is your S 18 (or more)? If not, be sure that you go with him to the coach’s office to sign his NCAA forms for him when you move him in. (Not letters of intent, or anything like that - the actual membership stuff.) They’re separate from all the medical forms. He’s probably 18 already and it doesn’t matter; your post just reminded me.

Happy to bring the tequila. I’m certainly over 21.

OK then, I’ll pick up the guacamole & chips on the way home…should be back and ready for happy hour 'round the pool…

I’ll bring the queso. It makes me so mad at D16…a few months ago she was on this queso kick…she’s done with it but now I’m hooked.

I will tell y’all that I’m treating myself rather nicely in this week after Son’s departure. Last night I didn’t go to a meeting just because I didn’t want to. I think I may ditch a reception this afternoon. And instead of the treadmill at the gym, I’ve just been treading water in our backyard pool. Next week, the girls will start school, all the activites will start, and the grind will be on again.

I’ll bring my famous salsa - we leave this afternoon - in about three hours - and I’d better get packing!! Happy trails, everyone.

Best of luck to you, Tiredofsnow! We’ll be here thinking of you and waiting for the salsa.

Safe travels, TiredofSnow. I hope there’s some fun in the trip, too.

missypie, same here, in my week between departures - treading water in the pool instead of working on the rowing machine; indulging in comfort food; wallowing in comfort reading.

TOS: best of luck to your boy and to the rest of you on your trip across the county. Am sure he will do splendidly and thrive in the relative warmth of his college town!

Eggmom, exactly–the 514s at Macys. They didn’t have his size–33/34 in the wash he liked, so we got them at levis.com with free shipping. They will be a 'care package" in a couple weeks–a good excuse!

Modadunn, lol, I have that EXACT same xanax prescription: just knowing they’re available is mostly enough for me. Except when I fly and/or I have a child who thinks he’s blowing all his auditions ;)

I make a fairly good chicken wing dip I can supply.

D is spending more and more time with friends. Her best friend left about 4 hours ago. I know this was difficult for her. She’s out again tonight with 3 of her friends that are already in college.

I know the feeling. Not sure, though, how to “do it right”!

D leaves tomorrow, alone, as she is going on a pre-orientation trip. She’s flown a lot, so I’m not worried about it, but I feel somewhat guilty for sending her on her own … We’ll join her early next week, bring the rest of her stuff (which, she points out to me, has not reached, let alone exceeded, the maximum number of bags we can take), and participate in the orientation events.

I know what you mean, missypie, about the grind beginning. That’s what I always hated about the start of the school year – the unyielding, constant, grind of homework and commitments. I think that’s what will feel most different about being empty nesters.

Any other empty nesters looking at all wistfully at “back to school” stuff – lists of books, supplies, backpacks, etc.?

I will spending next weekend returning stuff to BB&B, Walmart and Target that didnt fit etc. Grrr.

So I go on the USNWR to see the new rankings and talk about hype! They have a countdown clock to when they release the rankings in four hours of something from now. Weird. But then too, I was there looking for it as well. Just wondering how far and fast schools will reshuffle after financial implosion.

I’ve been working like a demon at work lately so I can have a week off - and it’s finally here. We leave tomorrow and I have a sinking feeling tonight will be an all-nighter.

Oh firefly… be careful with that as your mood will surely plummet. I look at it this way. We are not sending these children into battle. FORTUNATELY. And so, I figure I can mail whatever we forget and the shipping methods are such that even if worse came to worse and he needed something overnight, we could get it to him. I am prepared for forgetting a lot of things because I am taking Dad07’s advice and repeating the mantra: It is not my life (and then slightly under my breath, “even though I gave him his!”) :)

OK… so much for waiting for the rankings online. That thread is on fire on here! Intersting stuff, but in reality, the list doesn’t really change all THAT much from year to year.

Outlet shopping: H did well! He bought himself a few shirts (the man LOVES a bright color this is certain), but he bought a Corderoy blazer for son that is just great! Son also got a few shirts, but his favorite are the melon/paprika colored khakis. Too funny.

Ok, I want in on the 'Ritas too–I’ll bring the triple sec–always a titch to just take the edge off the tartness!

and mmmm, chicken wing dip…Rochestermom, may have to share THAT recipe…
