Lunch report (apologies in advance for cross-posting): Boysx3 and I spent three hours together this afternoon. She is doing very well and it was a joy to spend time with her. Her doctors are beyond pleased with her recovery. Her home aide is delightful and caring, and her family have surrounded her with love and support that would make you cry. She said she intends to post on CC soon.
That is such good news! Thank you for the report!
CD so excited that boys is doing so well!
D2 leaves tomorrow for south Africa. I know its just 5 months but it is 20 hours away!
D1 will be getting home from the reservation she has been at four two weeks. both kids in the air.
Great news about Boysx3! Thanks for sharing.
H surprised me last night with 2 dozen long stem red roses for our anniversary today. Thoughtful guy. Love flowers! Married 31 years. In the not too distant future I will have been with him 2 times longer than without. We started dating when I was 20!
Happy anniversary, RM!
South Africa…I would like to go there so day.
Feeling very young and healthy this morning as I sit in the Quest waiting room, waiting for a blood draw.
We had a tiny snake in our kitchen this morning. Like so tiny from a distance it looked like a large worm. But EEK there was a SNAKE in my kitchen and where is its mother!!!
Great news about boysx3!
Hope you’re enjoying the reunion, Zetesis! Sounds like fun.
Hope both kids have arrived safely, dte. South Africa sounds interesting.
Happy Anniversary, RM! My 35th is next month-I’ve also know my H a LONG time-since I was 19.
I have already spent more years with ShawWife than without. Crossed that border this year.
I’ve been with H longer. In a few more years I’ll have been with him 2 times longer than with out him.
I’ve already passed that!
Gosh, we’re old!
Such great news about boysx3!
Happy Anniversary, RM!
Another “oldie” here. Met H at age 21, married at 23, 35th anniversary this September.
MP- I honestly would freak out if any snake was in my house. I hope I never have to find out.
Agree about the snake, MP- an occasional mouse over the years is bad enough. Hope that one you saw ends up being the last of it.
An early 35th to you, FallGirl. We met at 19 and married at 25. So, do the math. I AM old! Glad the shower for your D went well!
Downtoearth, perhaps I missed an earlier post about where your son will be in South Africa but any chance he’ll be at University of CapeTown? D2 spent 5 months in CapeTown her junior year and it was an incredible experience for her. I was able to visit her and what a special trip. Will you visit?
DH and I have been together well over half our lives too. Rather startling to think I could be that old!
Thanks, sevmom!
If anyone has a few minutes and wants to read something interesting, check out the cafe thread on families arriving in this country. Fascinating.
I met H when I was 19 and he was 18. But we didn’t marry until 12 years later (and an intervening marriage for me).
yes I have been longer with h than without as well. scary.
We had a long snake in our front yard, but worse we have bats in the attic, costly to get rid of and just gross.
We are going to visit D2 in Capetown. she is doing a nursing co-op there.
Anyone been to Hawaii? We are going in January and any advice would be great.
We went to Hawaii a few years ago and then my S and DIL went again (staying at one of the places we did) for their honeymoon. S loved the place when we went there as a family. What islands are you going to? We went to the big island and Oahu. Loved the big island – Oahu didn’t do much for me but may have been that we stayed in Waikiki and to me is was for the most part just another big city.
Advice on Hawaii? Yes, don’t go with your parents when you’re 30 years old! My first H had recently left me and my parents were going to Hawaii. They invited me and I declined. They said “we’ll pay” and I accepted. Southern Baptist parents, so no cocktails with little umbrellas in them. Worrier mom, so off the beach between 10 and 2. Back in the hotel room by about 8 or 8:30 at night. Exactly NOT what the doctor ordered for a newly single woman, but that’s the last time I was “bought.”
Anyone have big holiday plans? I have NONE which I love. Pitcher of sangria, backyard pool, naps, books. Sounds so delicious.
Oh, have to share something funny. H and I are watching all of Upstairs Downstairs. In last night’s episode, James had an affair with Bunny’s wife. Lord Belamy encouraged Bunny to forgive and forget.
So of course, I had a dream that H had an affair. When I told him that this morning he said “Of course. Because I dreamed that I married Katie Couric.” I told him that if Katie Couric fell in love with him, I would let him go.
Ha ha mp! (Both about your Hawaii advice AND your dream.)
My 2 cents on Hawaii – we’ve been 4 times, twice without kids and twice with. (Our most recent trip was March, 2007 – so a while ago now.) We’ve been to the Big Island for a few days – Kona, Volcanoes National Park, touring around – but mostly we’ve spent time on/are most familiar with Maui. Love, love love Maui!!! We’ve done (driven) the road to Hana 3 times and every time we see something new. D & S took surfing lesson, S tried kite-boarding, we went snorkeling, drove around in the back country, drove up Haleakala and then did a horseback ride down into the volcano, and went to the beach a lot.
