Parents of the HS Class of 2009 (Part 1)

I’m driving home right now and probably won’t make it in time. Correction, I’m eating dinner right now on my way home, But I watched the last two and would like to see The Wiz.

I’m in Frankfurt, missing the Wiz, which I would likely have missed anyway. Had a stunningly good dinner with an inventive young celebrity chef (won something called Masterchef or came in 2nd and then was named Best Chef in Scotland and then Best Chef in Britain). Good meeting today. I have a 9 AM breakfast with a German former PhD student of one of my Harvard buddies who is looking for a bit of guidance. Then I’ll be heading home.

watching the Princess Bride but soon to bed, as I have to work. D2 is home from South Africa she had a great time and it was 92 degrees when she left.
RM maybe your SIL has a UTI or is low on vitamin B 12 I THINK that can lead to confusion.

Just hoping that they figure out something. Her DIL indicated to me that it’s been going on a while now and that she figures she is going to have to step in and get her to a Dr. They however are dealing with a 2 year old that has had hip issues. Was casted 2 times and another one happening this week for 8 more weeks.

I’m sorry to hear that, RM it sounds like her DIL has her own hands full. Hopefully somehow they can figure out what is going on.

Watched 2 hours of the Wiz. I liked the casting, and it wasn’t bad but not great either. I felt like there were way too many commercials.

I got my H to record The Wiz – my dinner stop turned out to have the slowest service I’ve experienced in a long time! At least the food was good. I don’t think I’ve seen the movie since the late 70s/early 80s. Especially now that I’m more familiar with NYC I would like to see it again.

I leave tomorrow evening for my UAE work assignment! Looking forward to red eye flights Saturday night AND Sunday night! My work assignment doesn’t begin until Tuesday, hope I am in decent enough shape by then.

Safe travels, c_q. And I hope you get some sleep on the flights.

Such exciting travels, c_q.

Thanks! I usually fall asleep on planes, so that’s the plan!

Happy (and safe) trails, CQ!

Though my own Xmas shopping is just about done, I’m headed out today to do some extra for my SIL who is in chaos this year. Hospice has told her that her son (mch’s nephew) is not likely to make it through the weekend. Sad times. The last thing she needs to worry about I’d gift shopping, yet she was stewing away about it anyway so I just said I’d be her shopper.

She lives far afield and never comes home for Xmas, but I’ve been trying to get her to come up for Xmas since her husband died a few years back. I hope this year she considers joining us. She hates snow but El Niño may make this the year to come north. Her dad is 87 and she has not seen him for a few years. In her shoes, I’d want a visit while he’s still all there mentally.

Safe travels,CQ!

Very sad news about your nephew, kmc. Sorry to hear this and that your SIL has not only already lost her husband but is now losing a son as well.

I’m sorry to hear about your nephew, kmc. That is very thoughtful of you to help her shop.

So sad, kmc. Very nice of you to shop for her.

I have not done much shopping but mostly the kids have gotten what they wanted–S $ for his new computer chair that is uber cool. and D $ towards a ticket to India for a wedding. Sadly, it is in Channi and the runway is under water. Wedding is in March but still a worry (for me, anyway).

c q, happy flights! Neat that you are going!

Spending loads of time with 2D (as I will call our “adopted” friend) and her 7 week old baby.
She is so tired and a gal without a lot of fortitude in general. Makes my D and myself look like
Amazon Woman. I spent yesterday and got baby 6.25 formula which was the very most yet.
Mom seems to give up at the first sign of disinterest–even at just 1.5 ounces.
This baby is one that needs coaxing and also needed
burping which was not happening as she falls asleep and they lay her down–then she wakes up–.

Anyway, as I have said before I find infants boring and this is just a little better as I am now older and have less
to do and because I feel that this has become an intervention.
Her H (a wonderful guy) is our of town two nights next week so they will be here. I am taking the night shift so maybe posting goofy in the wee hours.

So guess who I got together and had lunch with today? Boysx3. She looks and is doing terrific. We had met once before almost 2 years ago, and it was so great to see her again and also meet her husband.

That’s great, FallGirl!

FallGirl…that is wonderful news! What a miracle for her.

Life has been somewhat topsy-turvy around here. Hoping to feel more stable soon. Thinking of you all!

Made it to the UAE. Had a fun day touring London yesterday with my D.

KMC - So sad. Thinking of you.

FG - What fantastic news

CQ - Hope you enjoy the time in UAE.

Our big holiday dinner party is this coming Sat. so I’ve been prepping for that and will continue probably every night this week. Several of our friends can’t make it this year so fewer people but should still be a good time.

Serving a charcuterie, arancini, insalata tricolore, pappa al pomodoro, lasagne bolognese al forno, a selection of Italian cookies, tiramisu, coffee and tea. That should do it! Lasagne made and frozen - needed to do that as I made the pasta and there was no way that I could do that right before. Cookies are made and frozen. I’ve bought most of the elements for the charcuterie. Not doing bad. I do need to finish decorating the house and cleaning it!

Party is Sat and D and DIL are coming over Sunday to make cookies. The things I do to myself!

The bus needs to make at stop at RM’s house for the party.

NM-Hope things even out for you soon and that all are ok.

There are extra seats at the table this year for anyone in the area.
