Parents of the HS Class of 2009 (Part 1)

Happy Mother’s Day.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL OF THE WONDERFUL MOM’S HERE.

Kmc, you are a force of nature !

Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Happy Mother’s Day! Hoe you all had some awesomeness!
Mcson and gf came over to make brunch for us today and am still in carb shock. Mimosas may have contributed

I did get that new bed rototillered yesterday, got peat and compost/manure and vermiculite added and ran out of time/steam, so i ended up dong the actual planting tonight after everyone departed. Hot tub awaits.

I am such a slug compared to all of you. Your level of physical activity is amazing.

Had a nice mother’s day with calls from both kids and calls to mother and MIL. It’s so much easier being a mother to two kids in their 20s who don’t live at home!

I got to experience a “first” on Friday - got bumped up to first class! My company expense policy only permits economy class, so it was nice to have a perk for traveling so much.

Hope everyone had a nice Mother’s Day/weekend.

ShawD and I took ShawWife out for a Mother’s Day dinner on Friday night as ShawD works 2 12 hour shifts on weekend days. She is elated – she has now finished all requirements for graduation. NP licensure exam to follow.

We had brunch on Sunday with shawwife’s sisters. ShawSon called while we were there.

I hope you enjoyed the treat. I’m in First on the way to London this AM. The obligatory hot towel is a good start.

Kmcm wow to all the work.

RM, how about a group or trainer to get you there in the painfully early AM?

Great idea Shaw. Group classes and trainers though don’t start that early at the gym that I go to. I had thought about a trainer even though my last experience with one wasn’t great although I take a lot of the blame. Didn’t think I could do something. He pushed. I tried. Tore my meniscus. I should just listen to myself more. DId go this morning though!

Hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day! H and I were at the lake and it was glorious! I golfed for the first time in years and had a great time. We are celebrating Mother’s Day next weekend with my birthday so everyone will gather at the lake. Plans are for a family golf tournament and a BBQ. Weather forecast is not good for the event so we may have to readjust!

Have a great day all!

I was able to see all three kids over the weekend, younger D only for a few minutes, however. Older D is in town for training with her company. As we were driving her to the facility at 9 pm last night in a heavy rainstorm, we got the call asking if we could come over to Fiance’s parents’ house. So there the 6 of us were (fiancé and Son, too) hashing out things like the Order of Worship for the wedding until after 10:30 pm. They offered us wine, which was very helpful.

I expressed only one strong opinion. If you recall, Son’s sisters are standing up for him (instead of close guy friends, of which he has none.) Fiance thought my Ds should walk down the aisle like bridesmaids. I insisted that they walk in with Son…that is what the groom’s attendants do…they wait in back with him and walk in with him. Like I said, it was the only thing on which I insisted, because Son wasn’t going to.

Those two (Son and Fiance) are cut from the same cloth. Neither has their wedding ring yet. Fiance ordered hers but it’s not in yet. We finally went out yesterday to shop for one for him. Way too late for that. I quickly researched online jewelry retailers and found one that is (supposedly) reputable and the ring should arrive in a week.

We also bought Son black dress shoes. And I had to order younger D a smaller sized groomsmaid dress because she has lost a lot of weight (the site was having a $25 off sale for Mothers Day, which offset the $27 for expedited shipping!)

So many details! (And this is only from the groom’s side!) I know that the MOB is exasperated with both Son and her own D (in a very nice way) but I’m not surprised by anything. Although both are bright, engaging people, both Son and Finance have “issues” and I think they are doing the best that they can.

MP good luck with all the planning and finishing things up prior to the wedding. We are just starting for D. She is going to a bridal show on Sunday so I’m hopeful that she will learn things and come away with at least some idea of what she wants! Still no venue which means no date yet. Still have time but would be good to get that wrapped up so that we can start figuring thing out!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

Have fun with the wedding preparations, MP & RM. It all works out.

Beautiful day here today…but I am really hoping that next weekend is nice, because the last two weekends have been bad weather. Only the weeds seem to like it.

Got my first fresh cherries of the season! B+, but it is a start.

Years ago we took a family vacation to Washington State. The first leg of the trip was to the Olympic Peninsula. Being a family of 5, we have always needed larger accommodations. I found a B&B that had a unit with multiple bedrooms. The view was spectacular but the place was otherwise substandard…the décor was “grandma’s castoffs”, the towels were old and scratchy, there was no lighting in the parking lot so getting to the room after dark was an adventure every night, and the breakfast was stingy.

BUT, on our last night, the proprietress brought us each a piece of from scratch cherry pie, made from Ranier cherries picked that day. Likely the best pie I’ve ever had.

Windy evening. Back fence is in the neighbors yard. Glass patio table shattered in a trillion pieces. The power just came back on. We spent so much time working in the back yard in anticipation of wedding company. Nothing to be done tonight.

Sounds like a mess!

Wow, Missy so sorry! Was the table yours or neighbors?
Hopefully, nothing major landed in the pool. How long do you have again til the wedding? I will send ya the clean up mojo! Wish I was next door so I could help out.

Wind storms frighten me the most. Our pool area is surround by a terrace so I’ve no idea what effect a true windstorm would have on the “bowl.” My bar is woven wicker and tempered glass, but likely isn’t nearly the threat to the (vinyl liner) pool that the tree limbs from the big maple would be. And the area above the terrace has huge trees – one of which HAD fallen and demoed the fence before we bought it.

So far, I’ve had a few storms where I’ve lost a tree up the hill, in the forest area. They make a god awful sound when they go down.

Glad you’re all safe n sound.

If the table was yours and you’re in the market for a new one and want something that’s supposed to be bulletproof, check out Polywood. Lots of folks at the big lake here swear by it in terms of withstanding wind, weather, not blowing into the lake or pool. My wrought iron set isn’t likely to die by its own hand anytime soon, but one day I’d like a Polywod set  heavy and strong.

Oh Missy how awful with the wedding coming up. Just one more thing to add to your list. Ugh!

I’m sorry, MP. Hopefully you will be able to replace the table in time.

When things like that happen it helps me to think “this will be a good story someday”. My sister does the same thing.

It’s highly doubtful on the table. No more glass. (This is the third one shattered by weather.) We like an 8 person square table - seats a lot of people and fits into the space perfectly. Those are a bit hard to find and not a lot of time to shop. Biggest concern now is the fence. You don’t realize how much you rely on a “privacy fence” for privacy until you don’t have one. Neither we nor our back yard neighbors have anything covering our glass back doors. I can see straight through their house to their front door, so I guess they can do the same. And they have dogs that will have to stay inside for now.

What is the saying? When we make plans, God laughs? I was just checking off the final items on the wedding weekend to do list.

Glad our power came back on after a few hours. Some folks still without.

Replacement table ordered - 30% off sale, free shipping, no glass, delivery by 5/17. Yay!!! Of course, I haven’t billed a minute all day but I couldn’t think of anything but that table!
