Parents of the HS Class of 2009 (Part 1)

So sorry MP. I woke up to this as I go to bed very early - after all I’m up early most days. I can’t imagine what the city must be going through and you as well living in the area. I just don’t get why it seems anyway that people are so more apt to resort to violence instead of either getting involved to change things or to try to work things out with people. I don’t understand.

Oh, MP, I am so sorry. I have a hard time wrapping my head around this week’s events, and can’t imagine how stunned you must feel. Take care and be gentle with yourself.

Hello all. We are going to be allowed in our building very briefly in the morning. I have to admit that it’s going to feel odd.

Oh my.

I’m so sorry MP. That has to feel both eerie and awful. Such an incredible sadness.

So sorry missy. What a shock. H and I have been at the lake for the past 10 days and haven’t really been connected to the world. Minneapolis is also battling with a shooting. I am heartsick over it all.

Glad you are feeling better kmc. Sending more healing thoughts and pixie dust your way.

I logged on and was able to find almost everything I needed so I skipped the field trip downtown. It sounded a bit fascinating but in the end very time consuming … Parking blocks away, entering a building that is connected through a basement level concourse, taking the freight elevator, etc. The attorney who has a desperate need for documents in his car in the parking garage is just out of luck. No getting in or out of there.

The guy with the soul patch whose picture was circulated as a person of interest has described his interrogation. He turned himself in shirtless, scared to death he would be shot on sight. His interrogators told him they had witnesses who saw him firing shots and that they had him on video firing shots so he might as well confess. I am assuming they used the same tactics on the three folks in the black Mercedes, which is why the police chief first reported that they were being “uncooperative.”

It really is amazing that none of the open carry activists that were at the demonstration were not shot mistakenly shot by the police.

Our office building is open tomorrow. Our parking garage and the community college are closed “indefinitely.”

So sorry, missypie. Do you have an alternate parking place, can you work from home?

What happens to the students?

Good question about the students. The community college has numerous other campuses around the county but virtually all of the students at this campus rely on public transportation. The other campuses are not as accessible.

As for parking, I’m sure we’ll all find a lot somewhere. It won’t kill us to walk extra blocks in the 99 degree heat. Hollow to complain given what went on.

complain on…as for my own trite statement–I did enjoy seeing you building.
This was before the shootings were reported but still–enjoyed seeing a slice of you life.

I was going to sleep very late (after a lovely nap) and remembered it is Amazon Prime.
Got a few things --H’s Bose headphones recently stopped working so replaced those.
I have wanted one of those spiral veggie cutters but did not want to spend $$–$19.
and will I ever go to bed tonight is the question,

Picked up one of the Kitchen Aid mixers for D and future SIL for Christmas. Good price and I was able to get it in silver so should go with about any kitchen they finally end up with when they get to their “long” term home. Current one is more a starter home.

Good Morning. I am just about as exhausted as I have ever been. Between current events, some events in my own life and working almost non stop (worked until 12:20 this AM), I am beat. Going in a little later and leaving early as H and I are seeing Steely Dan and Steve Winwood (opening act) with some friends this evening. Just have to get a report done at work first though.

Sounds like life has been very busy for you FG! Enjoy the concert. Hopefully you will have a bit of down time between work and the concert to re-energize.

FallGirl, hope you stay healthy!

Hope today goes easier, FG.

Beautiful day here, but still some intermittent smoke. Open the windows; close the windows. I’m not so interested in Prime Day, but I’m also not a Black Friday shopper.

I ended up getting a good deal on a TV on Prime Day. We “only” own one TV, and S has been using roommates’ TVs the past 4 years in college. His law school studio apartment includes cable. A TV was already on our list of things to purchase so I told S to monitor the Prime Day deals.

I am battling with new templates at work, and the templates are winning. Really frustrating!

Dropping in to say hi. Parked in a distant garage but our tickets are being validated by building management. I’m buried in work but had to spend the first 75 minutes on the phone with the help desk trying to get Outlook to work. (Frustrating!)

All potentially calamitous Brexit ramifications aside, it seems really unfair that England was able to get a new Prime Minister so quickly, while we’ve been subjected to myriad presidential candidates for what - 2+years?
