S came home from American last Thurs. Just got out prior to the storm. He returned on a late afternoon flight on Monday getting back prior to the second storm. AU has been closed since last Friday so he’s had a week off. D who is in Maine wants snow and they have gotten very little. Not exactly what you would expect but the weather has been a bit bizarre this winter.

D is supposed to come home late tomorrow night but needs to fly through JFK. Hopefully everything will go fine and she will make it home with out any problems.

I am still here just incredibly tired. getting better slowly just in time for phase 2 .chemo affected eyesight so coulnt see screen well. getting better. caught up on some of your news lots going on. D walked in blizzard to see Obama speak, needed seat fillers because of the storm.(when he spoke to the DNC) afraid people wouldnt come because of the weather. We have plenty of GS cookies because H’s partner signed him up for two of each. I am glad Lindz checked in . i did manage to get my first care package off, for valentines day. thinking of all of the kids working through things and the parents supporting them. thanks for thinking of me.

I’ll comment on the doing away with Asperger’s issue in the morning - I’m wiped out tonight.

This has now officially been the snowiest day on record in Dallas. I think there was 8" at the airport, which is near my house. Wonder what kind of damage there will be. We’re sort of waiting for a big chunk of the neighbor’s live oak tree to fall in our pool.

Trojan virus on the laptop. I think I can fix it but I’m way too tired now.

Trojan virus… I just got this visual of safe sex for computer virus. Tired. Just had to pick up D from a party for the long weekend. While I love my kids’ schools, driving them all over the greater metropolitan area so they can hang out with their friends is definitely not a positive.

12.5" of snow here. Blew the prior record for most snow ever by over 4.5 inches. Good thing the weekend is coming. The original weather forecast was for it to be 46 degrees this afternoon - but now they’re saying 33 degrees. There’s no such thing as a snow plow down here, folks. It sure is pretty!

There’s going to be a lot of damage to trees and other landscaping. We kept knocking the snow off of ours with a broom but no one else did. I do think that a bush or two still have a lot of breakage. The thing is, due to the housing bust/economic decline, the good local nurseries have closed. Places like Lowes don’t have a lot of variety so it may be difficult to replace the more unusual bushes. I know that I have no right to complain. I’m not really complaining…it’s just that I left Illinois in 1981, so I’m very rusty on these type of issues.

Oh so nice to hear from you downtoearth!!! Stay strong and sending energy your way!
Missypie…hope your snow melts soon!
Still fighting my cold. D2 coming home to meet with oral surgeon today.

DTE – so good to “see” you if only for a moment. The vision thing would be extremely annoying for me. Hope it clears up sooner rather than later.

Good luck with the Oral Surgeon today, NMN. Won’t say anything more since I know Missy turns green - and not from envy!

I finally broke down and sent a note to the registrars office about when grades would be posted. Amazingly, they were due from professors by noon today, hopefully posted by this afternoon. Cool Beans! Hope it’s good news.

Four day weekend… doing absolutely nothing although my H called me this morning at 6 am for a wake up call. Generally, it’s a nice thing to do and deeply appreciated. Today? Not so much. I think a nap sounds good at some point.

Official practice for S starts on Monday. Not sure about how any of it goes in terms of his making the roster etc. But… knowing the strength in numbers, I’m just asking everyone to send good thoughts his way please!!

S comes home for a week next Friday as well! He booked a bus to arrive in Port Authority at 1AM!! What fun! He says he can take a commuter train home to CT. They stop runing at 1:45 so I hope that bus is on time. He hasn’t quite figure out what to do re: pick up from the train station…

just a question about cooking shows–they never wash their veggies or fruit or fish–just dump it into the bowl or pan and get on with it. What’s up with this?

^^ I imagine this is done well before hand because well… it’s wasted air time. Probably assumed you would do this. Although… I confess that I don’t wash lettuce that says it’s washed although my SIL insists upon it.

Thanks for the reply Modadunn. The cook just opened the berry carton and dumped them in the bowl which threw out my thought that if it is cooked maybe you can get away with it, the brocolli she just started chopping and the fish she did not rinse off from the store…

I’m pretty sure that there was a Consumer Reports article pretty recently that said that prewashed salad greens were cleaner if you didn’t rinse them in your sink at home.
