sabaray, last summer ShawD worked at a molecular biology lab in Toronto. Starting with the menial stuff but did get a project of her own by the end of the summer. Great experience. She had hoped for an internship in genomics at MIT this summer, but it was very, very competitive and she didn’t get it. We thought exploring the Canadian school was a good idea. For her as a Canadian citizen, tuition is less than $7000.

kmc, we share custody of our daughter and her best friend with her parents. Lovely folks who have taken our daughter to skiing and we’ve taken their daughter to Ireland, etc. Each daughter are nicer to their mothers when the “sister” is around.

Ooops misread missypie’s posts. Congratulations #TM and keep aspiring, missypie.

congratulations TM quite an accomplishment.
Last year at this time I was starting the journey and wondering, little did I know what the journey would be. I thankyou all for keeping me in the normal, when I was to sick to do anything I could log on and read what you wrote even if I was too tired and weak to write myself. thank you for your cyber support. I so often imagined myself on that bus!!!
things are still up in the air for summer plans, very simple stuff. work, ? internship, dance class. no big programs. It’s so nice to hear that everyone has to adjust to some degree or another.

Weather in Texas: Pouring down rain, thunder, lightning, high winds. So glad I don’t have anyone going to prom tonight!!! The middle school was very wise to reschedule the 8th grade picnic!

S2 leaves tomorrow, so I broke down and am making him a homemade baked macaroni and cheese for his 4:00 hunger pains. Earlier today, I tried on the dress I bought for next week’s graduation ceremony and it is tight!!! I am now in desperation mode for the next seven days of dieting so no mac and cheese for me. I just had a carrot and glass of water.

S1 finished his last final yesterday and is happily 100% done with school, but has about 10 work emails to deal with. It looks like work has started even though it hasn’t officially started yet, but that is fine with him. He looked up the hotel he will be living in and it is a suite with a kitchenette, so he will be able to cook some of his own meals after all.

D was due home at 6pm, connecting in DC but her connecting plane is stuck in Dallas :(. Even so, she just called sounding so happy, with lots of plans for school friends (including BF) to visit in the next few weeks.

TheAnalyst, I hate to think of you eating carrots all week, so this might be a time for Spanx They’ve gotten me from dress-is-too-tight to dress-is-wearable many times!

Congratulations on the published poems #tm! We are proud to know you!

Yes, down with carrots
Up with homemade mac!
(Clearly I need to go get something to eat. Something fun and yummy. Very tired of eating like an astronaut.)

PRJ, I’m so sorry about the weather! The rain has stopped, but the wind is really wicked. (I have an office that has two walls of windows on the 45th floor and the windows have been scaring me all afternoon.)

Congrats on the internship, Woody. Wonderful news.

I fortified myself with some black beans, salsa, and fried onion. Very filling, so I feel satisfied. I do need to buy some spanx because I don’t own any of those but I have a feeling they will be needed env though I had a good run today and supplemented with an extra walk.

Well, we have just returned with the contents of D’s room. D remained behind as she is headed to the beach tomorrow morning. Our SUV is packed full and this is after I made a trip down two weeks ago just to bring back winter clothes. It’s a good thing we weren’t bringing D back with us! Roomie and mom were in the process of packing and moving out when we arrived so we ran a few errands and had lunch before returning to the dorm at which point roomie was departing. H and S are unloading now, thankfully. D will be home next weekend.

Grounds were so different with people moving out. It was nice to meet many familiar names today and just nice to know that D has so many wonderful friends. She was in a bit of a funk not to be coming home tonight but I know that will vanish once they hit the road.

And sorry I missed all the great news- Woody, congrats to son on the internship! #TM, congrats on the poetry! That is quite an accomplishment! I wish I had that kind of talent.

Shawbridge, D will actually be working in a similar field to your daughter’s interests. She is very interested in computational biology- a field I unfortunately know nothing about. This old dog might have to learn some new tricks.

Hey folks, I am officially on vacation for the week. This has been a tough year at work , and boy do I deserve a break! We are taking a short family (3 egg) vacation and then I get time to relax in my own home.

Eggson has been home for a week and this is the 2nd time his GF has visited (overnight on her way to another town). She is sweet and I am growing fond of her. She leaves tomorrow before the family trip begins.

They are in the living room working on a crossword puzzle from the newspaper right now.

Woody, here’s some rhyme to keep up the theme:

It’s early spring and I am relieved
that son is home and no one’s peeved.
We are all relaxed and fairly pleased
with grades and plans and his new main squeeze.

Well today’s my birthday and after a not-so-great week (except for picking up D), I was in a pretty low mood yesterday. Things appear to hopefully be turning around, so it might not be such a “crappy birthday” after all. (unless S acts up on today’s band trip and I have to go get him, entirely possible).

Happy Happy Birthday Fallgirl! Celebrate in style! Wishing you a wonderful year filled with love, happiness and adventure!

Everyone under one roof here and I am happy. Had a great family dinner with Ds, H, boyfriend and fiance and then a bonfire with s’mores. A very good night! Today we visit possible wedding sites. It is a beautiful morning! (pssst…I lost another pound! Yay!)
