Afternoon all! It’s a beautiful day here in Nashville…hoping to take advantage of it in a little while. D2 was off to SAT II’s this morning. She thinks she wants to take the ACT’s one more time in the fall so that may or may not have been the final testing. That is one “last” I won’t be sorry to see!

Good luck to all of today’s and next week’s test-takers. May they be the last!!!

Not looking forward to beginning the testing cycle again, but S will be a h.s. junior this fall - how did that happen?

Showmom - sending good luck vibes to your D1! I’m glad she has offers, but it’s so much better if she gets the job she wants!

Nothing much going on here - just a nice, peaceful Saturday. :)

The SATs and ACTS were fairly painless for us the first time around - S1 got very high scores with no extra help whatsover, apart from advanced classes he took. S2’s an entirely different story. He’s going to need all the help he can get and then some.

footballmom-D1 is at HPU. Criticized by some as a “country club” university. I am able to report that academically it is similar to most colleges/universities–professors require that students attend classes, papers are written, research and presentations are required and tests are given are a regular basis. D1 refers to the benefactors who endowed the library as family as she spends so much time there. It has paid off, as she has made the Dean’s List each semester.

limomof2- I am quite sure that MSU has the welcome wagon prepared for you daughter and the rest of the class of 2016. Hope all of your family is excited for her adventure to KY!

Lilmom - I’m sure your D will be very happy at MSU. It’s fairly close to Marshall University in Huntington, WV, H’s and my alma mater, where S1 goes now. We used to play them in football and it was a pretty even match between bad and worse!

KYParent - We have friends with two HPU graduates and they do refer to it as Nido’s Country Club, but they’ve had a great experience with it. Their D graduated in 2007 with a double major in business and interior design. She got a job right away in Raleigh and has done quite well for herself. Their S just graduated a few weeks ago and is going to Wake Forest for grad school. It’s become very popular in our area.

Thanks for the good vibes D got the call today for the job she wanted. I’m so happy to have her home all summer!

lilmom - send your S down south and maybe he can pick up a job here!

YDS - Ah, that’s nice to be done with the testing.

showmom - Terrific that your D got the job. I’m glad you have her all summer.

Good morning. Coffee’s ready. No breakfast, though, as I can’t eat before I go to yoga class, and am not in the mood to cook for y’all when I can’t eat anything. Call me selfish.

showmom - so glad you D got the job she wanted and that she’ll be home for the summer.

Exams, papers, and projects due for my COLLEGE kids today and tomorrow. Only 4 more days till I see them. Maybe it’s time for the countdown dudes?

Have a great day.

Congrats to showmom’s D on the job!

aliceinw–I can’t NOT eat before I exercise! This morning at 7 I made a smoothie to tide me over until DH’s pancakes are ready. Smoothie contained frozen banana, frozen mango, a chunk of sweet potato, plain yogurt, & water to process. So yummy! :)

Counting down here…S is done on Wednesday, then home for a week & a half until summer school starts. And I expect he will come home frequently on weekends cause there’s not as much to do on campus in the summer. While there’s plenty to do here…cutting the grass, trimming the yew bushes…wait, that’s not what he had in mind. :D

good morning and thanks for the coffee alice…hope the 4 days go quickly!

congrats to your D showmom

good luck with grass cutting on the weekends mommusic :)

Congrats showmom’s D! And the smoothie sounds so good mommusic!

S apparently has a very part time on campus job lined up for the fall. It takes some of the pressure off of a summer job but I hope he considers some kind of internship with or without pay. I don’t want to nag and DH isn’t always diplomatic about it.

My kid’s will be playing musical bedrooms this summer. D’20 (that’s right) will be moving into D’12’s room because it’s bigger. S wants to move into the guest room for the summer because it’s more private. So, D’12 will move her stuff into his room before she leaves for college. This will be the biggest change this house has seen in a decade.

Congrats, showmom!

Ds comes home tomorrow!!! He was up past 3 this morning working on a final paper.

Congrats Showmom! She must interview well to go 3/3!!

Lilmom: We have played a lot of musical bedrooms since D1 ('08) left for college. This summer my goal is to downsize all of their “stuff”.

I think Prom went well for S3. He didn’t get in until about 2:30 and I didn’t get a lot of info. Except “was it fun?” “yea”. His date is a good “friend”. THey went in a group of about 100! They all met at the park for pictures which was a little overwhelming and then had dinner catered at one of the girl’s houses. Then they took a party bus (or two?) to the dance. The group was mixed with juniors and seniors so their were a lot of kids I didn’t know.

S comes home tomorrow. He finished all coursework Friday but has admin stuff Monday. He wanted to come sooner since his friends are still studying for finals but someone called mtg he needs to attend. This was an unexpected move out day so I’m nervous about H doing it w S. Hope they remember all the various non-obvious stuff. This is terrible for a control freak like me. Wish I didn’t have to work.

KYParent - thanks for the welcome, but my D isn’t the one attending MSU. I think that will be lilmom’s D. Welcome back to you, btw. :)

Showmom - congrats to your D! That’s so nice that you’ll have her home this summer.

tx5 - glad that your S3’s prom went well.

Lilmom - wow! You weren’t kidding about your kids playing musical bedrooms! That’s a lot of change all at once!

Happy Sunday♥

Glad to hear about another wave of kids coming home and yay for some positive news on the job front!

So…it’s been raining heavily for the past 24 hours…and we woke up this morning to 2 inches of water in our basement!!!
We have never had a problem with a wet basement in the 11 years we’ve been in this house, and there’s no obvious source- I guess the ground was just saturated. DH called Servicemaster and they came over promptly to start drying it out- they said that they’d had many calls today, so we’re not alone. 1/2 of the basement was finished…they have pulled up the carpet and most of our belongings (what was salvagable (sp?)) are currently in our garage. Fortunately quite a bit of the stuff was in plastic bins, and nothing irreplaceable was lost…but it sure is a big pain in the rear end!! Oh well, I’m trying to look at it as an opportunity to muck out stuff that we really don’t need…

sorry about the wet basement twinmama!! what a pain!

So sorry twinmama. That happened in our first basement after years and years of it being dry. As we start year 11 in our current house I have been wondering if this is on the horizon.
