Parents of the HS class of 2010 - Original

Just wanted to wish you all Happy Holidays!

I don’t know what is going on at collegeboards. I can’t get D’s PSATs or her SATs.

Happy holidays to all my fellow 2010 parents!!!

Happy Holidays to all!

Happy holidays! Stay warm and dry.

Happy holidays to all. Here’s wishing a stress-free holiday for our 11th graders. I had a thought today- next year she will likely be scrambling to get her applications in before the Jan 1 deadline. And the year after that she will be coming back from college for the holidays. So I am going to try and make the most of this year’s holiday.

vp, too true. This is about as stress-free as it gets! Though my college sophomore has a whole month off with nothing to do and he missed all the storms having come home so early. He’s bored not stressed!

Happy holidays to all too!

Ha
my Junior is spending all his free time writing a big APUSH research paper, trying to finish before we go out of town for New Year’s.

But he did get good news–the SAT scores finally showed up online! 2300 and he’s not taking it again!
Woo-hoo! :)

Great news mommusic!

Outstanding score - congrats to sonmusic!!!

Mommusic:

WOW, music to your ears and your S as well. REALLY happy holidays!

Happy holidays to one and all. I’d say we’re having Seattle weather here except I can’t because it’s been snowing there. Ah well, good weather for hunkering down and watching the Laker v Celtic game in an hour.

One of my S’s uncles got him the “doorstop” book, the US News Ultimate College Guide (S opted to view his “Dark Knight” DVD present rather than cracking that monster just yet. I said to take the best grain of salt, review what they have to say about USC first and compare to recently completed tour.)

S has some good holiday free time but also doing linear algebra and
SAT prep for March.

mommusic-congrats to your son! That’s what we like to see-“one and done!” :D

Congrats, mommusic!

Just jumping on from sister-in-law’s house to wish everyone a happy holiday. S is on cloud nine as he got a car for Christmas. But when we get home nest week it’ll be all about studying for that SAT! :)

Youdon’tsay - lucky S!

mommusic - a big congrats to your S. He, and you, must feel great!

FindAPlace - I’m sure your S was so excited about receiving that gift from his uncle! NOT! I can just imagine my D’s face if she opened a gift and found something related to her college search! So funny!

I wish I could say that D’s been prepping for her January SAT, but no - we were at the relatives all day and she was hanging out with her cousins, and now she’s out with friends.

Congratulations to your son, mommusic! Great to get the SAT out of the way. Clearly there was pretty good correlation between his PSAT and SAT.

Wow about the car as a Christmas present! D was very happy but her presents were very simple things- more like stocking stuffers really.

LIMOMOF2: Good for your D that she has cousins and friends she enjoys hanging out with. That is more important than prepping for SAT, IMO.

Congrats to your S, momusic. That’s an awesome score and you are one lucky duck to be able to cross SAT off your list.

vicariousparent - I agree, having cousins and friends to hang out with is definitely more important than prepping for the SAT - especially on Christmas! D’s been working so hard this semester, on both her classes and her ECs, that it’s nice to see her having fun and relaxing for once. Unfortunately, once the weekend is over, I’ll hav to give her a gentle reminder.

So, have any of your kids gotten their ACT scores? My D’s aren’t posted yet. :(

LIMOM, yes.

She was going to check this morning before she went out, but she mis-set her alarm and didn’t have time. I checked and they are there, I am not going to stare at it too long, as I want her to take a look and then look at it together with her. She is taking a lifeguarding class and is out until dinner.

Her scores are C 31. E 33, M 34, R 32, S 24. Subscores were all between 15 and 18. It also says that when the writing is release it won’t affect the composite. Good luck to getting your D’s soon. I am now going to read the ACT area to see how other kids scored on that brutal science.

This was good for a first time and definitely shows areas for improvement.

Wow! Excellent scores, jackie. Your D is bound to be very happy. And you must be proud, too. :)
