Twelve minutes. Just sayin…

We’re all waiting to hear the news, MOSB!

Emilybee: Wow! That support is amazing. Our public HS does a good job with the paperwork but doesn’t offer much real advice about college selection.

MOSB: Yes, my older daughter did get good news from her ED school. When her friends got their acceptances later on, she had no regrets and continues to be very happy at her school. We visited her last weekend, and it feels great to see her thriving. I’m hoping for the same experience for my younger daughter.

Nice acceptance from Ripon College…one of the 6 small LACs on my D’s list.

When I picked her up after school, as she walked toward the car, I held the “big fat” envelope out the window and waved it madly at her…which drew a knowing smile and slow shake of her head. (In our family, I’m the more wacky one…she’s more reserved, but does appreciate, or at least tolerate, my silliness.)

Anyway, I was glad I waited to let her open it. Even though we “knew” it was an acceptance, she still seemed so pleased to read the letter.

This school also wins the prize for t-shirts. They gave her one at an open house, and a second one in today’s package … and she loves the shirts! Says she’ll wear them whether she goes there or not. (Good marketing on their part, since few outside of Wisconsin have heard of them.)

The letter said scholarship info would be “forthcoming.” Darn! More waiting! Guess I should get used to it. Thanks for bearing with me today while I waited.

Like others have said, it feels real nice to have one in the bag!

Congrats to the little songbird!

Congratulations little songbird!!! And bravo on the waiting part, I guess we should get accustomed to the waiting. Luckily my mail comes way way after they come home.

mosb - Congratulations on the acceptance from Ripon! I’ve learned about this school fairly recently, and it seems like quite an interesting place. Can I ask - how did your daughter find out about it and decide to apply? I agree with you that it doesn’t have a lot of name recognition.

Enjoyed your story, MOSB. Hope your daughter’s acceptance season continues to give you both much satisfaction and anticipation for the future.

MOSB: Congratulations on the good news! I was on my way out, but had to check here first. We’re all in for a lot of waiting during the next few months. It’s nice to share it.

mosb - Congratulations!!!

Kajon - welcome back.

Congrats little songbird. Give your mom a big hug for her patience. As much as these kids think this is their process, it is a family endeavor.

^^^ I would rather not think about wait lists right now. :(

FlMathMom - S liked Rice as well. That was the first college we “officially” visited about 2 years ago. Seems like very nice place to spend 4 year.

Can anyone tell me anything about Oratory Prep vs. Seton Hall prep vs. St. Peters Prep? We are looking at these schools for our son for the Fall. Thanks…

congrats mom of songbird!!!

" Wow! That support is amazing. Our public HS does a good job with the paperwork but doesn’t offer much real advice about college selection."

Each kid is asked to come up with a list of schools in the spring of jr. year that they are interested in and before the GC sees their lists he comes up with his own for each kid. They compare, discuss, add and subtract until they have a list of between 6-9 schools (which he believes is all that is necessary) and it keeps getting revised as more test scores come in.

Congrats to Songbird and Mama Songbird on her acceptance!

MOSB: We’re visiting Ripon next week. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. DS would like to study math/computer science.

Hearty congratulations to Mama and Baby Songbird!!!

Like you, I wish that letter had scholarship info. Gosh, so much waiting and anticipation. Our theme song should be “Anticipation” – was that carly simon or carole king, i forget?
