^^ thank you for this. Amazing.

Researching: I’m sorry that you’re daughter is sick and has to postpone her finals. I agree that you should send her mid-year grades. Most schools have a form for the mid-year report.

AmandaK: Thanks for the scholarship recommendation.

It’s wonderful to have my daughter already set for next year, but it’s making this year drag a little. It hasn’t really hit her that she doesn’t have to stress over grades anymore. Her ED school only wants to see end of year grades, which I’m sure will be fine. We did order her cap and gown this week, which was really exciting.

Yay - Son got an $8,000 robotics scholarship from Drexel! That helps a bit!

That’s great news, Kathiep! I drove past Drexel recently and was surpised to see how big the campus is. It’s in a great location in Philly.

reaserching - I think most colleges expect the mid year grades. I know S’s school sends them automatically. Scary about your D but it sounds like she handled herself well.

Kathie- Congrats to your S on the robotics scholarship!! Is Drexel his first choice? I wish I had done some traveling after college. S probably won’t be so adventurous. I already have bets placed that 10yo D will turn 18 and ask us to give her her college money so she can hitchhike around China/Europe/where ever.

kathiep - Congratulations!!!
On an unrelated note (and completely stupid) Philidelphia Biblical University (?) who have unrelentingly been sending spam ds’ way, got a snail mail from them today, thought I’d open it up…$9500 “scholarship” awaiting him - if he applies and if he gets accepted. What a freaking SCAM! Do I get a toaster with that?

kathiep - sounds like an awesome experience for your S and I admire your ability to deal with the uncertainty of the trip. My D2 goes to Europe for 12 days in March and I’m pretty sure I’ll be a basket case. She’s only 17 so I’m glad this one is somewhat supervised!

For us, the worst spam emails have been from U Chicago, Case Western Reserve and Tulane. Although she has used her own email for all college-related stuff, these 3 email me at work DAILY. I’m going to try Mommylaw’s advice tomorrow and try unsubscribing.

As for snow, we’ve had enough to be annoying and even got a school delay out of the last storm but no closings. Probably a good thing since they’re taking midterms this week and D2 has studied like crazy. She’s ready to get these over with and move on to a slightly less demanding second semester.

Another few items off the list - D arranged for 2 interviews and is finishing 2 scholarship apps due tomorrow, and will finish the last 2 college apps Saturday. And she’s kept up with her homework, which they’re piling on, the week before finals - explain, please?

One EA school says they’re mailing answers the 15th, and another says “by Feb 1st.” So we will have news SOON!

Yes, I am ready to be in second semester.

But hearing of a kid so sick she can’t do finals - that’s enough to put me in perspective. Sending lots of good vibes to you, researching4emb!

Finally heard from the last of the eight schools D applied to…Juniata College…accepted! D is 8 for 8…so happy she has so many good schools to choose from. Very proud of her!

holliesue- woohoo! how nice is that???

Yay! Yay! And to kathie’s S, too! This place is going to be SO full of news the next few months. Wow, soon we’re going to be the group that’s DONE …

I’m so proud of rodney’s and holliesue’s girls - a couple of years ago they and my D were the B-student, messy-room, how-are-they-going-to-make-it triplets, and now look how wonderfully it’s all turning out. Hooray!

congrats to all…!!!

Now, holliesue’s D has to make the difficult decision; 8 for 8; wow!!!

emmybet: isn’t it amazing how it’s all turning out? would have never expected it…

EB- well…the room is still a huge mess!!! but she comes by it naturally…I won’t lie, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! Thanks!!

And yes, congrats to kathie’s S!!!

All this news is indeed very exciting!

oops double post!

thanks Rodney…yes, it is going to be difficult for her to choose! But that is a GOOD problem to have :)

Oh my SO funny/glad someone else spotted that OPLoftbed scholarship app–D1 and I got a kick out of it, rather a bright unique spot in otherwise all too similar app forms!

Argh…she has two college apps/essays due Saturday that are nowhere close to done. And she works all day Saturday so they best get (mostly)done by late tomorrow night. I am trying to not say much about it as she’s been drowned in intense homework and senior project work also and had to come home early with a migraine today. But I am needing to do some deep breathing here!

Congrats to all with the good news!

holliesue: those are great results! your D must be soooo relieved to have this part done.

Holliesue: Congrats to you and your daughter. It’s great that she has so many choices.

college4three and momjr…thanks. and it will be hard to choose!

I am sure I have fallen behind here but:

Congrats to kathiep’s S on $$$! Awesome!

Congrats to holliesue’s D on 8 for 8! Mindblowing! I am looking forward to hearing how she makes that final choice.

Healing thoughts to aging parents and sick kiddos.

And last but definitely not least, Good luck to all finishing up in the face of deadlines.

And thanks for the congrats to D on her acceptance/merit award. Its nice to have one in the pocket as we wait for the rest. D has her first audition this weekend. Between that, finishing out the semester and her school theater commitments she is pretty swamped but there is an honors application still to be done in the next couple of weeks, a DVD to prepare for an arts scholarship at one school and a portfolio to prepare for another. And 8 more auditions lined up. Part of me thinks it will be good to stay busy through the end of February and part of me thinks it would be really nice to kick back right about now.
