Oh yeah, my girl was a huge Land Before Time series fan too. It lead to her once calling 9-1-1 (after learning about it in preschool), when I wouldn’t let her watch one of the movies. I went into the kitchen to do the dishes. Next thing I knew, she handed me the phone and said the lady wanted to talk to me. I said, “What lady?” Let’s just say the lady wasn’t happy with me.

Good luck to your potential grad speaker, weatherga!

LOL Renee…does EVERY child go home and call 911 after being taught about it in school?? My son did that too.

After he watched Lilo and Stitch he would frequently threaten to call the “social worker” if I was mean to him- meaning discipline. I offered to call for him a few times…

As a kid, I really liked the original Parent Trap. I was so fascinated by the dual roles Haley Mills played. As an adult, I’ve been fortunate to grow up to be like my role model, Mary Poppins. My S routinely tells me that I’m “practically perfectly in every way”!

Oh S loved loved loved TLBT. When I was pregnant with D he INSISTED that her name should be Cera. We compromised and had Sarah on our short list (ended up naming her something else–in part because we didn’t know if we could saddle a child with “Your brother named you after a dinosaur”).

D just came home from IB History. Barely 1.5 hours. She was the first one done. Think she’s had it? Yup. I do. I do, indeed… We’re going to Target.

1) Turkeys can and do fly - not to high nor too far but they do fly.

2) Big Rugrats fans here. Had two Rugrat birthday parties, one for each kid. It was really funny recently when I found the pictures of 8 or 9 year old girls drinking from baby bottles in competition from one of the parties. Also had Pin the Diaper on Tommy as a contest. Can’t remember anything else from the parties. Wild Thornberrys was big at our house also and I think it’s back on tv because my husband and kids were watching it the other day.

We have a bunch of wild turkeys in our suburban neighborhood. They are becoming bolder. DS and I walked by a half dozen of them the other day, coming with about 6 feet, and they didn’t fly (or run) away. They are really BIG upclose! They will fly up to the tops of the trees when a car rides by.

Wild Thornberries, Rugrats, Land Before Time were all big hits in our house.
D just texted “since you are working from home and it is raining can you pick us up”.

Love all the movie memories. Agree LBT got lamer as they went on, but I’ve still got a big stack of them on my shelf - all VHS. Calling 911 though - too funny. My D never did that, but I can sooo see it. Mary Poppins was really great too. I was also a big Parent Trap and Haley Mills fan. I think The Moonspinners was one of the first romance movies I related to - wasn’t the last though, I’m a hopeless romantic.

We loved watching Lilo and Stitch too! That brings up the whole topic of favorite kids TV shows too. Hamtaro and Sagwa were some of D’s favorites. Really young we watched Mr. Rogers and yes, sometimes Teletubbies. I liked Thomas the Tank Engine.

@jaylynn–so is she done? Only Spanish here (Thursday). He won’t be home for another 45 minutes. They had their afternoon classes after the History exam this morning.

Doing TinyPrints announcements here…in his school colors…as soon as H takes a new picture of him!

kathieh1 and others - I got photo announcements through the online W*almart site - 2 days (although I think they even have a 1 hour option!), good price, and they look good - not quite as sophisticated as tinyprints, but darn cute (I’ll put up the pic I used on the flickr site).

All of our discussion about favorite movies and TV shows of our kids made me think that this might make a different type of graduation party theme.

Don’t know how many of the cartoons and movies are still available in party stores, maybe on-line, ebay?

Just a thought. It would let the kids think about just how far they’ve come. that way we won’t be the only ones feeling really old…

We haven’t had antenna/satellite/cable since years before D was born, but we watch(ed) VHS, DVDs, streaming video. D loved Arthur, Little Bear, Richard Scarry videos.

Yes, but would domesticated turkeys survive being dropped from a helicopter? I wanted to link a YouTube clip of the turkey drop scene from the “Turkeys Away” episode of WKRP, but YouTube is blocked at work. I did, however, find this Mental Floss quiz on the episode: [Lunchtime Quiz: The WKRP Turkey Drop - Mental Floss](http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/108198). I got 8 of 9!

Wild Thornberrys: Donnie (the wild boy) was voiced by Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers!

LBT sequels used to be a running joke at our house. One of the kids would be watching and I’d ask, “which one is this, 4326?”

familyof3boys - We were and are big Arthur fans. It started just as I was pregnant with DS and DD and I would watch it in bed around nap when I was too tired to get up, or when I was nursing DS. I just love all the characters - Binky Barnes, in particular. We also like the Mary MooCow scraps between siblings and “Confuse the Goose”. DS still brings out “Confuse the Goose” lines from time to time.

Kids hated LBFT, Barney, an Thomas the Tank creeped them out. My all time most hated had to be Dragon Tales - they were so screamy, whiney and annoying! FOrtunately thi kids didn’t like them either.

DD was a huge Bill Nye the Science Guy fan. Once when I was doing my parental “why do you suppose . . .” gig, she got exasperated with me and snapped off in one of Bill’s classic reasons “differentials in air pressure.” She was 2 1/2! She is now a Myth Busters fan and is all about dropping things from heights, calculating terminal velocity and of course the many uses for C4 explosives.
