Parents of the HS Class of 2013

David, the GC gave y’all a list?

I just reminded ds that the scores are out tomorrow. His response: “I’m not excited.”

Youdon’tsay- some of them were ones he was interested in and we suggested and the GC agreed and others she gave him. The school says in the end he should apply to 8-10.

I told D2 not to worry about SAT. I’m just hoping she aced a few sections, making it easier for retake.
mamabear, the link seems a bit outdated. For example, Cornell requires SAT subject tests for some majors and the UCs no longer require subject tests for all.

I have to share this with you all… S13 has scored really well in SAT. Way better than PSAT. He is done with SAT once and for all…So happy for him…

Donivrian - Congrats! Happy for you and him.

DS is driving me crazy with school work and has just blown me away with his SATs. He currently has a C and D in AP Physics and Honors World History. (Still not progress report time for 3rd quarter.) I caught him watching Dr. Who? when he should have been doing homework and found him asleep in a chair at 3 am since he didn’t finish it.

Then we get his SAT scores (800, 800, 720 (7 essay)). I owe him his favorite meal. Very proud, now fix your grades.

One and done here, too! Sooooooooo happy!

Congrats on those good scores!

Congrats to all with the great scores. Let’s just say my S can’t improve on his score!

Well, the good news is that DS improved his writing score into the right range. The bad news is that his other scores dropped (from the PSAT and practice tests), so that his overall is no better than the PSAT! Sigh. Guess we are not one and done. Thank goodness for super-scoring, though, so he can keep his writing score. Congratulations to all who got what they wanted!

D did much better on her SATs than her PSATs by a lot. She is in the strike zone for her target schools however she will take them again to raise them for merit $$. There is some room for improvement but overall I am pleased.

Congrats on all the scores! It really seems real now.

Great news everyone on the scores!!

Congrats on all the great scores! D got hers and they are slightly higher than last time; I think they’re great & give an accurate picture of her. As far as I’m concerned she’s done. Now for the ACT scores at the end of the month.

And another school bit the dust from her list last night. Down to 12, but I think she might be willing to listen to me about adding a few I think might be a good match.

Congrats to all on the scores. So many high scores. You should all be proud.

S improved by several points and superscore is now in the range he hoped for. He declared himself done. On to the next thing - narrowing that list of schools.

A great writing score but two scores lower than last time. Do colleges really superscore? How does score choice work? Do you end up paying double to have both scores sent? D’s score from fall '10 was 2150. Her January score was 2120 but if her best scores were put together she would have 2230. She probably hasn’t even seen her scores yet since it is still so early her time but I’m sure she’ll be disappointed. Even though she is a top student in her math classes, her math score hasn’t improved since 2009. She is taking IB standard level math. Math is not her favorite but she is quite competent.

Apollo - I think you pay one price to have all scores sent unless you use score choice. Most schools superscore. This is the package from College Board explaining all the different kinds of superscoring and which schools do what:

Congrats to everyone’s great scores.

OK - What is the real difference between Highest Section Across Test Dates Version 1 and 2?

dadoftwoboys - I think version 2 alleviates the fear that submitting a score with a lower section score than one previously submitted will hurt your admission chances. It states that they will only consider your highest scores. Version 1 doesn’t make that guarantee.

Congrats on the great scores! Kind of wishing S3 had taken the January test!!

Congrats to all on great scores!

Mom24boys - WOW is all I can say. They are fantastic scores.

MomofNEA - My son took SAT in the fall. PSAT was definitely better for him - Writing was 180 points LOWER on SAT. We’re holding out for ACT results before retaking SAT.
