S13 has been cloistered for a few days now with AP review books and class notes. 4 tests this week (Chem, Art Hist, Calc BC & Lang) and APUSH next week. Seems it will be a busy couple of weeks for everybody.

My D accidentally filled in the wrong answer form for one of the math sections of SAT yesterday. She told proctor who did not know what to do. She continued with test. She made excellent scores in Oct and only took this SAT to boost her writing score. Advice?

socialdramamama: I am sorry to hear what happend to your D. I feel that the proctor needed to give her new answer sheet?! not sure though.

socialdrama–I want to say that she should have stopped taking the test so no scores would have been reported. I would maybe give the SAT people a call on Monday and see what you can do. My guess is that it is too late since she completed the test. Did you send scores to colleges when you registered?

Does anyone know when AP test results come out?

perazziman: usually the 2nd week of July. If you’ve sent them to a college (as you will next year, to the school you’re planning to attend) you may see the results in their portal first as they get them the 1st week of July electronically and the results are mailed to student homes from AP. We usually get them here in TN around 7/14.

DONIVRIAN, dadotwoboys, it sounds like your kids will be very busy this week. Best wishes! That’s a lot of tests - who else has multiple AP/ college tests next week?

Update: After questioning her today (she was too upset yesterday) she said that the proctor consulted her handbook & determined that the proper thing to do was to give her a new test booklet & ask for hand scoring. She also said that 8 problems are in question. Yes, she did get scores sent but only to our state flagship & 3 other state schools. If her
scores are dismal I guess she can explain at application time. Unfortunately the mis-bubbling happened mid-test & her confidence was off. She had several math sections so maybe she messed up on the section that is not scored. We will see.

S slept in, then took off for work from what I gathered, Prom was a lot of fun. Ss date is wearing a dress that I never could have pulled off in my lifetime . . . and all the girls were wearing shoes they couldnt walk in. LOL

Blueshoe NINE years of orthodontia wow I think thats a record. My S just got his braces off earlier this year he immediately looked so much more masculine. Despite the facial hair, etc, the braces kept him looking a bit juvenile I guess. Now my D needs them it never ends!

Reeinaz sounds like you should play the Megamillions maybe 5, 50, 55 . . . Congrats on all the good news that came your way this weekend! That program must be pretty serious if they actually called his math teacher.

Nellieh I knew this year was going to be rough, so S and I had a long talk about taking time to smell the roses. I think hes done a pretty good job of keeping balance. Winter sport season was rough, and right now the AP studying is taking over, but he always finds time for fun. I hope they took your advice and enjoyed the campfire!

S has AP Art History and AP Euro this week, then AP Physics next week. S said that the Art History test is 4 hours now I see the problem in having a morning and afternoon test on the same day thats rough! I didnt realize they were so long. S also has 2 other college classes, but I have no idea if they had/have exams. I know he did in the Fall. Ill have to ask!

S also got news this weekend that he was accepted to a 4 week fully funded residential summer program; so once again, hell be away a good part of the summer. Hes waiting on word about another one that is 7 weeks, but I doubt hell get in as hes not really in their target group . . . but thats what I thought last year too about another program, and I was wrong.

Socialdrama so sorry that happened I can only imagine how upsetting that would be.

Socialmama- i feel so badly for your D. It will work out! Maybe she can send a quick email (ahead of scores) to her admission councilors at schools where score is going to be sent. State how much their school means to her and that she had a “test malfunction” and wanted to give them a heads up? Assuring them the rest of her application and additional tests will support the strength of her fit to their school.

No tests this week for my D other than massive assignments. The following week she will be in her tests vortex (:

Socialdrama - same thing happened to D yesterday at SAT. The proctor had to file a irregularity report. She bubbled section 4 answers in the place that was supposed to be for section 5, so everything between section 4-7 was messed up, but she was calm because the proctor was pretty cool. He came in to the room with the Star Wars joke. “Yesterday was Star Wars day, so May the 4th be with you.” I am so sorry about that, Socialdramamama, and I hope they work out a solution. They really don’t need any extra stress at this time.

reeinaz: congrtaulations on summer program acceptance. I rememeber what you wrote about this near the application deadline. Didn’t he already get accepted to a writing program? or was it last year?

Socialdrama: it is so sad that proctors come unprepared and not know what to do and have to refer to the handbook adding stress to already stressed student. I am hoping that she should be fine when the scores come out. I would definitly check with the collegeboard on Monday as SteveMA pointed out. You and your D will have a much peaceful month that way.

fredricksdottir: yes- too many tests along with their regular homework from other classes. He is handling it with grace, mom is stressed out!!
S has the college class between 7:30- 9.30 on thursdays, gets back home around 10.30. I am glad that trip is going to end this week(i am the one who is driving), he has been doing it from February onwards. Coming fall, couple more students from his school will join him in this venture- so car pooling will be a possibility.

MommyDearest, congratulations on your S’s summer program! It sounds like he’ll have a busy summer!

socialdramamama, I’m sorry that your d had the scoring problem with the SAT, the kids really don’t need additional anxiety when writing those tests. They’re under a lot of stress already. I hope that it all gets sorted out.

socialdrama–can your DD take the June test if needed? Maybe the SAT people will let her take it for free because of the goof up?? I would at least ask if they can not send the scores until you see them just in case they are really off.

DONIVRIAN, car pooling would be a life saver, I bet. But I’m sure the college course will be worth it in the long run!

Misbubblers–I think on the SAT site it says you can cancel scores up till Weds after the exam. Go to the college board site and check. If your kids really think they got sections misaligned, I think cancelling is better than a note to admissions officers later. Think bureaucracy–AOs don’t have time for exceptions, footnotes, etc. and some may not be understanding even if they knew the reason for the May blip.

Omg so many AP tests coming up. So I’m guessing they’re scheduled independently by each high school? I’m truly amazed at the workload many of your kids are managing.

socialdramamama - There’s still time to stop the scores from being sent if you’d rather see them first. Just delete the schools from the registration. If you’re really concerned, I think there’s still time to cancel the test which means it won’t be scored at all and no record of it ever being taken will show.

MommyDearest - Congrats on your sons summer program. Fully funded is awesome!!

Donivrian - S is attending a writing workshop but it just over the long Memorial Day weekend. Even the computer science camp is only a week long so he still needs something for the rest of the summer.

Thanks for the well wishes for my S. I woke up this morning and he was already up, cleaning his room. I hope this good mood of his lasts. I emailed his GC and told her about the letter from the National Achievement people. I’m guessing he is just qualifying for Outstanding Participant but it will be the only academic honor he’s achieved thus far so I’m not turning up my nose at it.

AP tests dates are scheduled by the College Board, so everyone is taking them the same day, for the most part. My D has to go in on Friday, which is a day off for the district, to take the Euro test. She is having her hair done for prom at 10 AM!

Grinzing-Great info on misbubbling! Much better than a letter to adcom!

Reeinaz- great info too. BTW, your son’s honor is ligit and something to be proud of!

Mommydearest-your S Rocks getting into all these programs!
