Thanks, Greekmama!

mommaof5-that’s actually a good idea. she may be just stressed out enough to take me up on that offer.

I really hope that DD has a great time this weekend. The school could be a great fit for her, and the coach seems to really like her, but the school has one major drawback (in her mind). The visit should help her determine if its something that she can live with or not.

S’13 now has the honors college box and a new “student” tab on his mybama page . . . I guess that means “ACCEPTED!” Roll Tide!

I need to come back and catch up on the chatter later!

MommyDearest13 ~ Congratulations!!!

Carla2012 ~ hope the visit goes well!

I’m thinking of having d apply to bama just so I don’t feel so left out
The waiting is making me chew my nails again… and it’s only Sept
Just kidding
Seriously…CONGRATS to all those acceptances!!!

About the Calc grades…as seniors the schools will only see 1st semester grades…so if a Tutor or Drop the class is necessary…Do IT now don’t wait…
I could Kick myself over not doing something for my D …now her transcript has a b- on it and she is a straight a student from 9th grade on…I should have pulled her and put her in AP Stats last Sept…that’s where she is now and thriving…

Welcome pb and crom

UGA…good riddens to bad rubbish…

Tufts or Brown…that is the question?..very different environments…very different student populations…both good schools…let us know how he liked it :)

Ama308 -

Fortunately, the transcript through the end of her junior year is what they look at. They ask for the FINAL transcript at the end of the year, but she’s already accepted based on class rank at that time. She doesn’t need the class to graduate - but she really needs to LEARN calculus - for that reason, I’m willing to get her whatever help she needs to grasp it, in spite of the teacher!

S2 is home sick today. Just a cold, but he felt so miserable last night, that I let him sleep in this morning. He woke around 10:30 and feels a little better. He’s been selected to write the senior class play, which is perhaps more a curse than a blessing. He just hears complaints after each draft - but the teacher likes it. He’s hoping to finish up the ending today since he has some “found” time.

Congrats, mommydearest!!!

Congrats Mommydearest - I have been watching dd’s UA application status - just waiting for them to get transcript from HS (requested last Wed) so hopefully she will get the “student” tab soon too! We are going to visit at the end of October so hopefully she will already be accepted and know scholarship by our visit - have you visited?

Just finished the form to order cap and gown…sigh. Feeling guilty that I didn’t order any announcements. DS wanted one as a memento, but we had to order in big packages and my friend who is a sports booster said that there is a very good chance that the football stadium will be being redone next spring and graduation will be in the gym. If it is in gym, we get 6 tickets, enough for our other 4 kids, DH and me. I guess I could have made my own insert where the name card went and said “Please do not plan to attend, since we do not have enough tickets for you.” LOL

Homecoming ~ DS got asked in a unique way. After winning football games a local pizza place gives free pizzas to the players. DS went 2 weeks ago and when he walked in they were waiting for player ##. All of his buddies were irritated that they had already ordered and his pizza came first. When he opened it it had written in the lid, “Homecoming or is this too cheesy?” with her name. Of course it was an extra-cheese pizza. Too cute.

Momma5: LOVE THAT!!! D14 is actually in the middle of class right now getting asked!! Every class she walks into has carrots and letters waiting at her desk. Not sure what the carrots are for, but so far she has a G, O, N, H, ?, C, E. She has been emailing me pics from each class.

Thank goodness for THIRSTY THURSDAY!!! Drink 'em if you got 'em…I sure need it.
The Coach from Jr’s #1 that has been recruiting him for over a year has been “let go” because the new Head Coach is bringing in his own staff. To say that he is a bit distraught would be an understatement :(

I love all the Homecoming stuff! It is a great distraction to all the yucky application stuff!! I love the “cheesey” one. Might suggest that to DS.

DS is making NO progress, to his credit he is sick, so after school and practice he goes to sleep, wakes up to do his homework and then goes back to sleep. He has a slight fever (99.9) and is supposed to go on an overnight trip with the XC team tomorrow. Ugh.

MDMom: I am so sorry about the coach!!!

TX5: Thanks But I guess that is why they always say, “Pick the school because you love it, not for the Coach.”

MDMom - bummer about Jr’s #1…maybe the coach will be hired at one of Jr’s other schools?

No homecoming for D’s school; no boys = no football. I think they call it fall ball or something at her school, and she’s already asked her bf so they’re going with a few others. Thank goodness for stores like forever21. Back in the day it was a lot more expensive. I think prom is the only dance where they wear long dresses anymore, at least in her school.

Our2: Thanks That has actually already happened with a different Coach/School on his list…so you never know.

Winter Formal and Prom are both “formal” at our school.
Formal = long dress = big bucks
HC is “semi-formal” so short dresses work. But of course then you have the laundry list of rules that the girls have to follow. Gotta love Catholic School.

Mdmom. So sorry about the coach. But as one door closes another opens:)

MdMom- that is really difficult news about the coach. While we always ask, would D still like to go here if she were injured? The coach and the team dynamics make up a big part of how she feels about the schools.

Maybe look at it as a hidden blessing though. It would be worse to be recruited, send in your deposits, and then have the coach changed to someone your S didn’t like, right? At least now, he has a chance (I hope) to meet the new coach and see what he thinks. Hopefully, you have a few more options available that S likes.

SHUT
THE
FRONT
DOOR!!!

How is this for the most ADORABLE thing ever…I mean EVER!!!

So, at D14’s last class, there 4 bundles of carrots with a note that said:
“Looks like somebunny is trying to ask you to Homecoming. If you carrot all, you will say yes!” Now I get all of the carrots she has been getting all day.
Then, 5 mins later, he walked into her last class with a roses to formally ask.
O
M
G!!!

Sorry…just had to share :D

Thanks Carla…I know that it will all work out for the best for Jr.
It’s just such a bummer as it is his #1 school choice which is a HMFR…so he needs all the help he can get!

Cute homecoming invites. Here Prom is where the kids go all out for the invites, not so much homecoming. They kids are going to “homecoming” which means they are dressing up, going out to dinner and then skipping the dance and going to someone’s house for movies. Haven’t heard yet if that house is our house :D.

MdMom–how frustrating!!! I know you have to love the school but you spend a LOT of time with the coach and if that relationship isn’t good it can spoil the school too. Does he have any good back ups? Maybe this coach will get hired at his #2 choice :D.
