Parents of the HS Class of 2013

So, what are puffs?

Yeah, that was me Lisa. No problem, it was a welcome back puff, and I have to spread the love anyway before I can hit Walker again.

Kat: We call tapping on the fuzzy scale puffing cause it looks like a puffy cloud, not a scale. I just puffed you. When you are logged in, you can now click on your #17717 puff, and you will see at least one person (me, maybe others by now) have added to your reputation. Collect puffs, and you will gain green squares. It is a way to reward nice people and chastise evil entries (you can detract from rep somehow too).

lisa - don’t you wish they would have a more basic form for those who kind of know that not much of anything is coming their way?

Also does anyone think it’s only really urgent to file FAFSA right away if you’re eligible for grants, but it doesn’t matter much for Parent Plus loans? We rushed and might have made an error in one of the numbers reported. Now the hassle to correct, ugh!!

DDHM - thanks. I puffed you back!

Kat2013: :D

LOL! I’m cracking up about the puffs/taps/green box love, especially “spreading reputation around before giving it to [login] again”…I especially like blueshoe’s post #17713; and I quote:

"Walker, I am giving you a puff for giving Steve a puff for handing out puffs  "

KelliJake - don’t worry about sharing sad feelings, I think we all do from time to time

DS is turning 18 on Sunday. We decided to get him a passport for a gift, so we spent the morning getting his picture taken. I heard him saying something about a gift for turning 18 and 19. When I asked what he was talking about, he said the drinking age in Canada is 19. Ugggg!

blueshoe–I am hopping aboard your Puff Train.

sahp2kids- YES! I have been susceptible to the Weepies as well, especially in regards to music. Agh!

Sacchi- congrats on your D’s college acceptances! WOnderful to have so many choices!

Walker- You GO GIRL!

Puff Train sounds a little dirty… maybe it’s just because I have a dirty mind.

As of 3:51 pm, I have not heard from the school or the G/T people. The vice principal has until 5 pm to call me and then I will be writing a nasty note to him and ccing it to the board and the superintendent. When you say that I will hear back from you the following day and you do not do so, even to tell me that you are still working on it, you will get the rough side of my tongue. This is your d a m n job; to hire competent teachers to teach. How hard is it to see that you effed it up? My kid won’t be stepping foot in his class again. I will make sure that she stays home first period every day until it’s taken care of. Independent study is just fine. She stayed home all day today and got TONS accomplished; working on setting up a shadowing opportunity at a highly respected regional theatre, contacting her college reps, setting up a tour, working on her songs and monologues… it was a highly productive day.

Hugs to Kelijake- the end of the season can definitely lead to a bit of the blues. Unless you had your Mom stay with you for 8 days. With her Significant Other. In a house with no guest room.

In that case, you are celebrating! lol

Walker1994 - I have gone to battle with the school for my son numerous times due to his disabilities. I hear you loud & clear. Sadly, ccing people was the only way I accomplished anything. You go!

Mommaof5

A passport is something we are working on right now also. I promised DD a graduation trip and since she got into a HMFR school I guess I really have to follow through. Can’t complain about $ as the financial aid from said school is amazing.

BTW - all 5 of my kids are watching “Arthur” on PBS right now. :)

Walker - I am so with you - one of my pet peeves is people who don’t call back when they say they will. I hope you get some satisfactory answers soon!

DDHM - Lisa of the Light? Love it. :)

RE: FAFSA, I know some of my numbers weren’t correct. I don’t think it is a big deal to correct it, is it? I know they want you to go back after you file taxes so it can’t be too hard. And yes, it would be awesome if there were an “EZ” version of the FAFSA like there is for the 1040.

I have apparently gone overboard with my puffing and can no longer puff till tomorrow.

Sorry, Lisa “in” the light, not of the light. I’m not so good at this mass responding thing LOL.

My DS decided not to do FIRST robotics this year. His team made it to St. Louis last year and it was a really great experience. It is just so time consuming though, really hard for a kid that plays sports. At least here it is every day after school for most of the year, so it is hard to do anything else. I agree that it is a very worthwhile activity.

Just coming in to complain: DS’s friends keep hearing from schools but no more word for us.

Yes, we have heard from 2 schools so I shouldn’t complain too much but they are not my son’s favorites. He is interested in doing AROTC and of all the schools he applied to (10), these 2 are the only one’s that do not have ROTC right on their campus so he’d have to go elsewhere to do his ROTC “stuff”.

And I vote “Yes” to an EZ FAFSA and CSS profile!

Puff the Magic Dragon, lives by the Sea…

Confusedmom–have you just not heard or have they not notified anyone yet? If you should have heard, have him email or call his admissions rep to make sure they have everything.
