Parents of the HS Class of 2013

Tip on the FAFSA–if you look in the bubble that travels down the page as you go, it will give you the exact line on your tax form that you need to use to fill in that answer. That is why doing Turbo Tax or similar or using forms from last year helps so much. It also gives pretty good definitions of what you should include for “investments” and not.

Aw shucks, thanks for the puff luv…

So I am filling out the CSS Profile. I have been at my current job since July 2012, but it asks how many YEARS have I been there. I tried to enter .5, but it wouldn’t allow anything other than #'s! What do I put in?

Steve-We have just not heard. Lots of his friends at school and people on CC have heard from specifically UMass and UNH. Western New England is rolling admissions and they told him on Dec 13th it would be about 2 weeks.

Some of his other places have not notified anyone yet so not anxious about those schools (yet!).

Oh and he definitely has everything in to UMass and his UNH profile says “complete-ready to review”

I have 2 green squares!!! Thanks for the love!

lisa - if you get flagged for verification the FA office will ask for copies of your taxes to verify your answers. I know some schools require copies of your taxes regardless of whether or not the feds flag your SAR. If you get flagged all they do is make sure your answers are correct, make corrections if there are any changes and then calculate a new EFC.

Momma…I always bust my S13 and husband watching phineas and ferb with my young D!

Oohh! Phineas and Ferb! Love it! Phineas is the greatest kid! Gotta love Doofenschmertz also!

Alas, no one will be puffing me! (I secretly got my green squares elsewhere!) I will still continue to puff my allotted 10x/day.

Walker - Keep fighting!! (though I’m pretty sure there is no question on that one!)

Lisa (dark, light??) Welcome back!

Bama - Saw a few Roll Tide commercials on ESPN last night and filled DH in on that phrase. I have not seen a Bama thread on here that doesn’t include a Roll Tide somewhere in it! :)

Kelijake - so sorry you are feeling down. If it helps any, I am right there with you…

I am looking forward to some good play-off games this weekend. Anyone else? Favorite teams? Do I have to bake a cake while I watch? ;)

A bit of a brag:

The boyz mock trial team was victorious last night! (we didn’t find out today which team actually won the trial) And DS13 won best lawyer! And it turns out another lawyer from our school’s defense team (my DS is on plaintiff’s side) cannot attend the defense trial next week, so it looks like my DS will fill in for him. He is having some mixed emotions feeling bad for the other boy, but also excited to take on the task.

My3: We can puff you if we cannot tap our square challenged ipeeps and have been instructed to share the Magic Dragon Fire elsewhere. However, where is this mysterious greengrocer? Amsterdam Square, where you can buy them from the shop windows down the narrow alleyway mews? Also, congrats on mock trial. Do they have a courtroom artist?

Thanks Lisa of the Light (I was debating of vs in, but went for “in” cause you escaped the Dark Lurking World into the Forum Light) and the other two of y’all to tap me out a third square! BTW, I think you get a third greenie when your rep points exceed 200.

The kids on our F R C team mostly do cross country or soccer in the fall; it is nearly impossible to combine it with basketball or spring baseball. My DS spends about 40 extracurricular hrs/week during the Jan/Feb build season. Yes, time intensive, but they love it!

Tonight I am going to dream that I go all Walker at my kids’ school today and tell them what I think of their visual arts program. I live vicariously. My hope is that dd’s college will actually teach her something; some of the faculty look quite good. She’ll be like a pig in mud. BTW, did you know it is illegal to release a pig into the wild in Kentucky? In our state (not KY), we have quite a problem with ferocious feral pigs in the mountains.

I need some puff love!

@DDHM: OMG! I’m now a VERB!!! Puff-tastic!!

To Walker (vb.): to speak with brutal honesty and LOL dry humor in a way that is endearing to all those who are struggling with similar issues. Etymology: speech in the style of CC Lucky 13er parent with username Walker1194.

pkd: We are giving priority to our ipeeps with one lonely measley square. Hang in there; you may be bumping along for awhile like a little boat in the Raingutter Regatta. You may even experience a little bit of that cub scout spit blown on your sails, but we will get you to that magic deuce.

DDHM, will you marry me?

PK: Just puffed ya!

All this puffing is making you guys a little loopy today. Love that Walker is now a verb.

Happy Friday!

You guys are too funny!

I walker
You walker
He, she, it walkers!

Lisa and Kat, hello! I have puffed and puffed, both you and pk dad and many others. Pretty sure I’ve passed my allotted ten today. Some of you I can’t puff until I puff others. I’m not admitting I have a problem though. No twelve steps for me! Yet.
Walker, you go!! I’d like to blast D’s AP bio teacher (she asked on a test: where is the something-I - can’t- remember located? Be specific." D replied " In the mitochondria, which is located (wherever in the cell it was to be found).". She got marked wrong for giving too much information. All the teacher wanted was “in the mitochondria”. D was infuriated. Same teacher has taken to recording her lecture once and later classes have to watch it online. D hates this because the sound can be weird so she misses things and of course they can’t ask questions. Not to mention the homework time it add (or cuts into, depending on your perspective). I’m not brave enough to Walker yet since she still has a nice A. Let it become a B, though…

Walker, I don’t know how I missed all the drama with your D and the drama “teacher.” I swear this is happening everywhere! I could have written your posts and just substituted tech for MT. I don’t understand what these whackadoodle drama “teacher” are thinking. In our case, he is a self absorbed donkey’s rear whose chief goal is to build the student up as an underclassman just to jerk the rug out from under them senior year. And…in our case it is always directed at the most dedicated student with the parent who has done the most for the program and boosters. I have kept quiet but once D graduates, I will address this issue. It has made it even more difficult since I also work in the same system and was booster officer for three years. My D was supposed to be with the “evil man,” as he has been dubbed on another message board I frequent, for half of her day second semester. Uhh…yeah, not happening! Fortunately, our system has a Work Based Learning program that will also approve internships. My D is beginning an internship with the local (and very good) theatre group this week. She is Assistant Stage Managing the first non touring production of “Spamalot” in Georgia and will be working half of her day at the “new” theatre. We are thrilled to be OUT of the high school drama nonsense! Best of luck to you and your D! I know how awful this is. :frowning: (okay, well actually not totally finished, yet. She has Thespian Conference to attend in early February, but after that she is DONE!)

I don’t think I’m capable of walkering…I can do the brutal honesty, but the humor part is not in my DNA…I wish I could!

Started a long message about Walker as a verb (love it), toy guns (LOVED my fancy-handled Western-style cap pistols with leather holsters that I had as a child), Arthur (Who’s Dewey!), puff-tapping (doing what I can up to the legal limit), and all, but lost the message when I clicked away. Which shows that I have spent a little too much time in Walker’s basement already this evening.
Kelijake, I’ve been down in the dumps all day with ya – here’s to a brighter tomorrow. Happy weekend, everybody!
