Parents of the HS Class of 2013

Down in the dumps here today too…went for a long overdue chat with bf that turned emotional way too fast when doing a catch up about our combined four seniors…what is always a cathartic, exhale respite was untypically sad and melancholy…neither one could lift the other so we just semi wallowed together for a couple of hours…must be going around!
On a lighter note, thanks all for the fafsa tips (expecially getting pins early-)done and WILL finish the actual apps tomorrow. Feeling the pressure to do everything perfect with only one shot…we don’t have another child to say “wish I had known with my first”…I gotta know now  that’s one reason I am grateful for you all…and the humor…you guys are hilarious!!!

Welcome everyone new. It took a while to catch up…and I THINK I was on yesterday…! I am going to have to start reading three times a day, just to keep up! DD is at a Model UN program. I told her “just go and have fun”…she could just talk about what they all had to do to do well; I said “you are a senior…can’t you just relax, and enjoy the time?” She rolled her eyes.
Kelijake–I am sorry to hear you feeling so blue; but, I agree—vomit all you want here. maybe it’ll help! Tommorrow can always be better.
Welcome to all and everyone I cannot quite recall—but, I know there are new-lurkers and lurkers who have decide to announce themselves! and, also those who have been so busy that it just takes time to get back here and recieve those puffs! I tried to puff too. I hope it worked.

ohhhhhhh! two green squares! Thanks “guys”!!!

DDHM–sorry but it’s Friday night and I’m tired and a little punchy. I live in an all-male house (including the dogs) (well–except for me) and the phrase “magic deuce” would elicit such guffaws around here.

3triplet: I puffed you for the simple fact that you have triplets. College application roller-coaster X3. Sorry that you are down.

I’ll be puffing later when I get a reload!

When S was little, his favorites were Little Bear and Franklin TV shows. I loved the Little Bear books!

D is working on a scholarship application this weekend. The school is not at the top of her list, but a large scholarship would move it up. She has gotten several e-mails and a postcard about alumni interviews at the only school where she has not yet interviewed, but they stress that it is optional and to answer her questions, so she is not doing it!

I’m puffed out people.

Watching football in the basement and sipping my bourbon after writing a BOSS letter to all these crappy admins at school. I cited state policy ect. They are gonna hate me even more. I no longer wonder that my kids didn’t get any book awards junior year and won’t get any subjective awards this year either. I think I’ll skip awards night.

I feel liked I have stepped out of a Dr who time machine here!!! I’ll admit I am a sorta newbie and i just can’t keep up with everyone and I feel like Im missing out between trips to the basement and puffing!!! OMG! :D

I need to hang out in the basement! The stress level is killing me ( DS’s #1 school releases admission decisions on Monday. YOu’d think they’d release early but…NO)!

DS came home today from school all excited about starting tennis practice. Silly me asked him how they are going to practice with snow on the ground? His reply…we’re not starting until Feb. 25…like it doesn’t snow in Utah in February!!!

Anyone else with a kiddo doing C M U’s upcoming sleeping bag weekend?

terinzak – you’re killing me! “Duh, Mom, we wouldn’t start practice in January. It’s cold outside.”

MD13, we did the sleeping bag weekend in October.

We did sleeping bag weekend in November.

Walker and UGa! WTH is going on with the drama/theater programs? My D2 has been in tears for days and her senior year is “ruined” because of a short, pompous, poorly qualified, god-complex, a-hole (that one’s mine, not my daughter’s) theater teacher and his spring musical choice. I’ve written my first ever letter to a principal in 16 years of schooling in 1 county due to the unprofessional way the musical was chosen and my daughter was treated. I have also supported my girl in inciting a “do you hear the people sing?” les Mis quality riot.

I’m trying to diet and stay out of the alcohol basement, but just writing this and reading everyone else’s posts is making me very THIRSTY.

I still don’t know how to puff people. Very disturbing altogether. I like puffs, and green squares, just have no idea how to give or receive . I’m going to the basement after all.

moonpie, I think to puff, you have to click on the scale (some are calling it a cloud) at the bottom of the box with the name on it…and then a box opens up. you can write something…but, I think the most important thing is to click on the add reputation button…does anyone else have another way to explain it?

OMG Walker as a verb! That is CLASSIC! This thread is hilarious. :)

HA!!! I figured it out!!! I thought you were all puffing something…because I saw no scale or smoke…until I logged in on D1’s computer. I SEE IT!!! It doesn’t show up on my ipad!!! Now I’m puffing and drinking…and a bit happier. DH is in bed sick, D1 out with college friends, D3 playing guitar in her room, D2 and I are contemplating a drama teacher voo-doo doll.

Drama: My DS was in drama last year and I enjoyed watching his plays because his sports (cross country and tennis) are not really “spectator” sports. He seemed to love it, but then got kind of upset during the Spring Musical (they gave the role that it looked like he was going to get and that he deserved to a kid who didn’t even bother to try out and who was somewhat troubled hoping it would straighten him out) and then VERY upset in the spring with the way the third production (an original comedy sketch type show written by the students) was handled (the teacher does not produce it, it was produced by a former student, and some of the senior girls wrapped this young man around their fingers with the result being a show just about them). So this summer he quit. It makes me sad, but he said it didn’t make sense to keep doing the same thing and expect a different result. So I can definitely empathize with all the “drama” woes.

Wow, this thread moved today!
This has been a looooong week! I hope that apps are done - or at least close for those who still have deadlines ahead.
I can’t stand the suspense for all the theater kids! I don’t know how you guys are hanging on.

I puffed who I could, but it won’t let me puff several people - I think I hit you up yesterday or something? I dunno - it’s a mystery and I’m not a math person! lol.

I’m going to bed - and for the first time all week, sleeping in until the sun is up! G’night all. :)

I think my D has about decided to NOT be in the spring musical, and try out for a real theater production with a local company. I will support her 100% whatever she decides, but I can’t say I won’t give my “evil” eyes to the drama teacher. I’m so angry and can’t seem to get over it.
Not being a good Methodist right now, but I guess good Methodists don’t make drama teacher voodoo dolls?
