<p>Congrats to everyone! Son has one acceptance, two apps turned in, and a couple more to go. On a whim, we toured Christopher Newport University’s open house today and really enjoyed it. The campus was gorgeous and the students seemed quite accomplished. It was definately not what we expected and we were glad we toured.</p>
<p>student4ever: DS has to get 2 FAFSA’s in for EA schools FA estimates. We will use last years ad estimate any changes. Got to get them in by the 16th.</p>

<p>No acceptances here, but no rejections either! The new killing it!</p>
<p>With S in the mile high city (Denver) visiting DU (and CU Boulder for a drive by). When we went to pick up our sensible Nissan Maxima at Hertz ($19/day), they offered me a Mercedes C Class for $50 a day. I said no. Then they knocked it down to $35 a day. I said “where’s the car?”</p>
<p>When S saw it, he said “Seriously?” Then he said “can I drive?”</p>
<p>I said “the only way you’re driving this car is if I have a heart attack.”</p>
<p>But once the sun went down I almost gave him the wheel, because I forgot my glasses!!! I have the case, but it’s empty. I made it back to the hotel; didn’t kill anyone. Phew!</p>
<p>S has his third application submitted- the last of the EA apps. Looks like he has about 52 days (plus some- at least one of his schools has a 1/15 deadline) to finish them up. I think he can do that!</p>
<p>I am trying not to freak out! …I checked my S’s grades last night just to see if the report has been finalized …and there is was an incomplete in English! What the F! …I open CA …transcripts sent ! OMG ! So if figures it is a long weekend and I have to assume my son’s transcripts were submitted with an incomplete - I need help with options here…</p>
<p>My son claims all assignments are complete but there are 4 assignments listed without grades …up until 2 days ado his grade was a 94 in AP English…</p>
<p>Can the school pull back the transmission and resend once we get the Incomplete fixed or
Is my son doomed…S has not submitted to ED school -15th deadline but has submitted to EA school…please tell me this can be fixed ! Trying to breath…</p>
<p>Spritle -we had the same impression of Christopher Newport. I was more impressed than I thought I’d be and it is on d’s list. While we were waiting for her interview we waiting at the library coffee shop - a prof came over and chatted with us about the school and major. </p>
<p>If she doesn’t choose a large U, I could easily see her there.</p>
<p>onlyonemom - it would be best to let your high school call them, and resend a new updated transcript. Incompletes can be for many reasons, and I don’t think it’s the death knell you think as long as the grade gets put in there and re-sent.</p>
<p>Thanks for all the congrats on Son '14’s state cross country bid. The race is Friday. We’re hoping for a big day for him.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, final game to serve as a youth soccer referee this fall. Then, it’s home for an AP English essay as well as essays for a couple of colleges. He has Veterans Day off, so he’ll have some time to finish everything. Friday night was Senior Night for fall sports athletes at his school. Hubby and I walked Son '14 out – he was the only senior cross country runner. And it was dang cold! He stayed for the game. I had to pick up the older son from the train station about 45 minutes away.</p>
<p>onlyonemom: Don’t freak out. breath. You know that with 1.6 million kids applying to college every year for the past 40+ years, this has happened before - at least since we entered the era of everything being electronic. You won’t be able to do anything until Tuesday, but then you have to call (or personally visit) the high school to confirm that the grade will be recalculated when the teacher completes the grading of all the assignments and uploads the reports. Then ask the GC whether he/ she is willing to contact the EA school admissions office to inform them of the “glitch.” Follow up with a call to EA Adm. Office yourself. Confirm that the updated transcript goes out. S may be able to do this.</p>

<p>Question about the fafsa. I thought you did it in January. Is it needed before?? My daughter has aps in at ut- austin, houston, u arkansas and a few others. No ivy but it is competitive.</p>

<p>Just heard back from GC. I am so grateful she is checking email on the weekend! </p>
<p>S’s high school only sent 3 yr transcripts because they do not send transcripts with incompletes and will send updated transcript once the incomplete is removed. </p>
<p>I am so relieved …</p>
<p>Relieved with you…now that I think about it, our school doesn’t send senior transcripts until the first semester is over, not the quarter. And only if we request that they do it.</p>
<p>It’s a wonder we don’t all just have nervous breakdowns before it’s over.</p>
<p>Makes you ask yourself what happens to the kids who don’t have support from parents or a strong gc.</p>
<p>Our school sends the sixth semester grades and a list of the courses being taken/scheduled to be taken senior year. Guidance then produces a 1st Q grade report but it is informal since the school only reports semester grades. Students are encouraged to send these 1st Q grades to their early schools but my son has one school that wants the GC to send the grades herself. Endless ‘paperwork’, even if electronic.</p>
<p>onlyonemom – so glad that’s settled and you don’t have to worry all weekend long! It’s great your GC checks email over the weekend. Our 1st Q grades haven’t come out yet and I believe S can see them first before asking GC to send them to his EA schools.</p>
<p>I have to say – I am loving Denver. People here are so friendly. And normal. I think I’ve been living in the NYC area too long.</p>

<p>Momom77- Usually FAFSA becomes available in Jan with most due dates sometime in Feb, but you must check each school’s deadline. Also, if any EA or ED apps were sent in there is a high probability of an earlier deadline so that the school can give the financial package details. You really do have to check with each college’s deadline.</p>
