@sbjdorlo I think the letters are supposed to be mailed today. I don’t know if it was supposed to be updated on the osa website? I’m not sure…
Actually, I called NMSC. They checked my account and said that so far I have not been offered a scholarship, but it may just be that WSU hasn’t decided on who gets the official college-sponsored awards yet. I’m still hopeful I guess - from the way it sounds, WSU decides how many official awards to give (even though the award is paid through NMSC, I guess) so it doesn’t make sense that they would limit them.
And @GoAskDad - I could have sworn I heard Smartie-Pants Stan cackling in the background at Intern Jimmie’s replies to me on the phone…
I see three Cornell, and a bunch with two. My son’s friend was looking at RPI and ended up at Cornell.
FWIW, we didn’t get any more FA, and the guy I talked to said “of course we don’t meet full need, we’re not an Ivy you know…”.
Now I am trying to calculate what our outlay will be - the good news is they have a 10-month tuition payment plan for only a $60 fee (per year I think). 3500 per month is better than 35K in August or 17.5K in August and December.
@SomeOldGuy, “I Wanna Be Sedated” fits my mood exactly. @shoboemom, I know just what you mean with the fear of commitment issue. D has had her mind made up for weeks after an overnight visit where she fell in love, but I’ve been all for keeping options open. We committed and paid the deposit last night but emotionally I still have a foot on the USS Indecision–it wasn’t easy for me to pull the trigger or more accurately to fill out the e-check and hit submit .
I know I’m not the only one–the admissions officer at D’s chosen school says that they do get acceptances at 11:59 on May 1.I realize that whatever school D chose, I would be thinking, “what about schools X and Y, maybe those would be better for her.”
But it’s official. D is attending Mount Holyoke College. Off to update the long list!
Congratulations to all; on the list I see quite a number of schools that we visited and liked and where I’m sure our kiddos will be happy and thrive.

@albert69, my D received a NMF award from her chosen school and it does not show up in the NMC profile. I think that just the $2,500 award shows up there. The schools award on a rolling basis as kids list them as first choice in their profile. Some may wait to award and other award first come, first served. D found out about her award when an additional scholarship showed up on her school’s financial awards page. Sometime this summer she should get a letter from the NMC letting her know she is a NMS.
@Kelowna, I believe you have to name the school by today at the latest. I think it was on or before May 1 to align with the notification deadline for most schools. However, it might have been before May 1; I am not sure. D notified the NMC as soon as she committed to a school

@mtrosemom@Barfly Thanks for the heads up! Maybe that is the case. My school account shows my estimated COA and says that I have been awarded that much (which is very nice to see!) and it is broken down into tuition and fees, room and board, and books. There isn’t anything that says National Merit though, so I’ll keep checking for that.
On my son’s National Merit letter, it states that he has until May 31st to change colleges. We just changed it today as he had a different one reported.
@sbjdorlo Okay, yeah I need to stop freaking out. I guess they do have that option. But I’ve been committed since last October, please NMSC and WSU pick me for an official award! Lol, sorry to be so greedy, I know it doesn’t make a difference how much I get in the long run.
