@albert69, Penn only awards need-based aid. (And we’re very blessed that my son will be receiving a lot of it) My son won a Special Corporate National Merit Scholarship, which will be for a minimum of $2000 a year, but based on our income, it will likely be the maximum amount of $5000 a year.
This was never expected since my son was only commended (PSAT 215 here in California). However, apparently the company that sponsors this award, UPS, also has these special awards for high scoring, but not finalist, students. We’re so, so grateful!
@Hoosier96, St. John’s in Annapolis? I LOVE that school. I grew up in Annapolis, and knew several kids who attended. I would love to have gone there myself, and my S1 came so close to applying. I don’t have too many specifics for you, but for the right student it is a great program.

@albert69, in case this makes you feel better, my kids’ school sponsored NM money showed up very late on their school accounts. I think the school waits until they get the last notice from NM that the student has named that school, so when it’s absolutely too late for the student to switch their first choice school, then the school awards the official NM money. For my current senior, the rest of the NM package is already posted to his college account, but not the “official” school sponsored award.

@ThreesDad: Congrats on Lehigh. We have been there for Robotics competitions a few times. Pretty campus and great academics!
@Threesdad - Congrats on Lehigh. S has committed to another school but still on waitlist for Lehigh. A few weeks ago they told him that if he was off he would be notified before May 1st and would have to decide by May 1st. Assuming they are done - not sure what S will do if he is still offered a spot.

@hoosier96 I recommend you check out summer academy for high school students. My child attended last summer and loved it–gives a good preview of what the program is like. It’s pricy but they do offer schloraships.
DS had a great time at prom and after prom.
His AP Envro Science teacher was at the prom with flash cards to prep the students for the test on Monday. If that doesn’t say we are putting too much stress on HS students, I don’t know what does.
