@snoozn Good news about OSU. For us OSU is cheeper than both UofO and CU Boulder. None of which are likely to give S more than a tiny amount of scholarship. I think OSU might give him the same 3K if they admit him, but I don’t know. He hasn’t even applied yet. But the California schools are even cheeper, but none will give him a drop of $$.
I’m not going to worry about it too much. UC’s… he project for the break is to get those in.
Congrats @brindlegreyhound @ klinkska. With only 3 apps in… and none really expected back for another few weeks. It feels like we are a bit behind.
@brindlegreyhound that makes sense, we plan to do the same. Not that S has a first choice or a single acceptance yet so really in theory we plan to do the same. I am a bit bummed as I had hoped he would hear from WWU before thanksgiving. I suppose there is still tomorrow but…boo.
@snoozn nice that OSU came in higher than expected! You may see them offer more as it gets closer, who knows for this year but I have heard they have done that in the past. Still probably unlikely to beat your in state option at CSU though. I need to have him reschedule the audition which he will not be happy about. He keeps telling me “I got this” but I am very concerned about the quality of work that will happen on these last 3 supplements. We will see I guess. It is what it is.

We have a similar plan to wait for all financial letters and then pick the top 2-3 and have him do a second visit, sit in on classes, talk with major profs etc.

@snoozn–this trend of merit exceeding NPC is making me very happy! Does your D prefer OSU to CSU? (i.e., is she looking to get away from home?). Here’s hoping that they continue to sweeten the pot as decision time gets nearer.
I’m feeling like we’re slackers over here–all of my D’s schools were CA schools, few of them required supplements, and her stats really keep her out of the running for competitive scholarships or honors colleges/programs. No portfolios or audition tapes to make. We still need to hit submit (and pay the fee) for a couple more schools for RD, but the work is done. Hope I’m not selling this poor girl short!
@klinska As always, it seems, we are in the same boat. All CA schools, minor supplements, no honors colleges/scholarships or auditions. I’m a fan of loving the school that loves you back. If she decides to drop a few of her RD schools [which are the most competitive save one], I would be fine with that. I think she’ll have some good options that hopefully won’t be full pay, and really, if she does apply to 15 schools and actually was admitted to most of them, that’s a LOT of choices. Probably better off with fewer anyway.

Thanks all! And YES @cameo43 it feels much better. It is a financial safety (the only one!) and we’d assumed an admissions one but I still feel a hecka lot better having it known as a for sure! He would be very happy to attend.

It’s so cool, there are at least 4 2017 kids admitted so far I think and I think a few more may have applied. Last year on CC according to the google doc, no one applied or was admitted. Loving all the love for our regional gem

@curiositycat333 thanks! He really would be happy and do well there. He doesn’t really have a top choice. In his mind right now there are 2 leading the pack and then the rest is pretty equal with OOS in general having an edge.
