My D got her first acceptance news - only found out because I checked the portal - admission offered at U of Oregon. We are OOS so it’s kind of expensive and isn’t her first choice but still very nice to have an acceptance! No negative news yet - this is first news of any kind
@eandesmom - not sure how to send a PM, and can’t figure out how to get the formatting into this message. Please suggest how to do this better next time!

Congrats to @“Queen’s Mom” and @CAtransplant …acceptances are great news, especially early in this process! =D>
@“Queen’s Mom” Congratulations! We have a similar circumstance with an acceptance but without more aid it just isn’t very realistic. Especially when he has other options which would be significantly cheaper over 4 years and are equivalent academically. Son understands but I know he’s still holding out hope.
Thanks @CoyoteMom ! By the way, where are you and others getting the stats such as CoyoteMom posted saying:
JUNIATA AR 77% Avg GPA 3.72 , M 520-630, CR 520-620, ACT 22-32? I want to give my D’s info to @eandesmom but not sure where to find those stats. Thanks.
@CAtransplant You can find them on collegedata.com – tons of info on there.
I just pull them from collegedata dot com. if you look at a schools overview page it is all on that tab.
Thanks all! I’ll try to have an updated list at some point today.
@kt1969 ok thanks.
Today/yesterday’s drama was S17 though the Holiday Band concert was today. I had originally though it was today, but the email I received about it said tit was next Tuesday. So I was thrown when S insisted it was today. After email a few people including the teacher. It’s next week.
Nothing new to report here.
So I just went to college data.com and I looked up UofO. And it had data like this:
Average 3.47 (UW) 3.71 (W)
Low 2.35 (UW) 2.21 (W)
High 4.00 (UW) 5.00 (W)
How is the Weighted Low, lower than the UW Low? I don’t understand these numbers.
** My mistake – this is on the right and it’s a bogus who’s interested set of numbers **
I don’t really check the numbers on this site very often. With S17’s unballanced GPA/SAT spread it’s really hard to get any idea since his SAT is usually WAY above the average, and UW GPA below.
As Parent of 2018 HS, I really appreciate @eandesmom putting the results list together.
You all are a wealth of information for upcoming parents!
Not college related, but I just have to share: D17 just got her driver’s license! After two tries, and at the tender age of 18, she’s a licensed driver! Glad we got that one checked off before she leaves for college next year!
@klinska YEAH! My 18 yr old D is still too scared to take the test. I would love to be able to make that post!
My D got her permit for her 16th birthday gift ;), took drivers ed during that summer, and got her license that October. I was hesitant about letting her start so early, but she’s been a very cautious and responsible driver. It has simplified my life greatly!
I think the fact that her permit was going to expire at the end of the month, combined with her 15.5 yo sister’s threats that she was going to get her license before D17 was the final motivation she needed, lol.
My D did it basically as early as she could - got the license soon after 16th birthday - she was raring to go! Younger one I think is not so anxious to do it but she’s still only 14.
Well this is surprising. My D got a revised acceptance letter from Truman State today offering an additional $4500 per year in scholarships bringing our total COA after merit down to $8500 per year! ($16500 in state less $8000 merit)
If only I could get her to visit
@stlarenas, WOW!! Four-digit COA! Is this a school of high interest for your D?
@klinska Nope. She thinks she hates it. Won’t even visit. Was a parent pick on the list. Maybe when all the acceptances come in she will be swayed by the savings. I will offer to buy her a car if she picks a college that affordable!
It’s a good school…look it up…not sure why she doesn’t want to consider it. Says its in the middle of cows and only weird kids go there …ughhh
Holy cow @twoinanddone - finally got an email today from George Mason reminding Coyote-son that he had applied EA and results to be announced on Dec 15th…you are so RIGHT! This positive, though no actual new info, email is to Coyote-son’s formal name (like John), and after son checked the trash files, all the post application “please apply” emails were sent to nickname (like Johnny). That makes me feel a little better about Mason…clearly something we need to correct if he a) gets accepted and b) attends. So sorry it messed up your D’s registration, but glad coach was able to pull strin to get her in the right section! Thank you so much for sharing this hard won experience wit the rest of us!
@klinska - Congrats to both you and D on her brand new driver’s license. <:-P. My son is making very sloooow progress on earning enough practice hours on his permit to even take the test. He’s pretty good at our regular roads, but really needs to start highway speeds (“not til January, Mom” - cause that’s when the last of the applications will get submitted. Looking forward to having him get there, hopefully before he goes to college! Wishing he was more like the other kids here who couldn’t wait to get his license, but on the other hand, he is keeping our insurance rates down with only a permit
@stlarenas - very, very cool to get even more money - fingers crossed that you can find that incentive to at least get her to visit.
