@srk2017 maybe! It’s my daughter and she is not applying to a special program. Is your son?
@carachel2 - Yes, he applied for pre-medicine (which indicates their combined program) in arts college.
I forget who it was waiting for *** Colorado School of Mines ** * application to open.
It is OPEN now.

@srk2017 … So is that the guaranteed program for med school? That is HUGE!
@carachel2 - Yes, but the admission is only for arts college and theowny will forward the application to medical school and medical school decides whom to send supplemental app. After that they call some for interview (probably 40-50) sometime next year and I believe decisions come out in March. so looooooooooooooong road.
Congratulations to your S @srk2017! <:-P
Congrats @srk2017 Best wishes to your S for the next step!
@HiToWaMom well now I wonder if it was wrong. One kid was named on the website and now it’s gone…one seems really low if you have SEVEN!
Oh well, our Marching Band is better. LOL!
Congrats @srk2017 that’s so exciting! Even if is a long road what an amazing first step.
@STEM2017 I don’t understand a word of French. The professor knew that. Dd was sitting in. I was just tagging along. They were completing a writing assignment. Dd was doing it with them.
Congrats @srk2017 . Which college did he get into?
@hades321 - Thanks. He applied to Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences as Pre-medicine major.
couple of schools increased their stalking! One wanted him to confirm that he is still interested, but when clicked on it taking to the application. He hasn’t finished the essay yet, so he can’t submit!
D finished her essay and after some light mom-editing it’s ready to go to H and oldest D for their comments. I was really impressed – it’s so much in her voice and even made me cry a little. She has one LoR submitted to Naviance and waiting on the other two. Seven of her colleges require supplements, but nothing too awful. I’d say about 500 words per school average, with some schools asking for several shorter essays. Three of the schools are EA, so that gives her a natural progression. Hopefully there won’t be essay fatigue.
I’m glad to see that people found accepted student days useful. I hope she’ll get good enough offers that we need to go to a couple of these!
@Dolemite - Where did you get those Rice supplements? When D17 looked at the CA, she did not see the 500 word essay
“The quality of Rice’s academic life and the Residential College System are heavily influenced by the unique life experiences and cultural traditions each student brings. What personal perspective would you contribute to life at Rice? (500 word)?”
The Common App - it’s prefaced with this:
The Committee on Admission is interested in getting to know each candidate as well as possible through the application process. The following essay questions are designed to demonstrate your writing skills and facilitate our full appreciation of your unique perspective. Please respond to each of the following prompts.
Should I bother sending both ACT score reports to the schools that do not super score the ACT? The composites differ by 1 (the superscored-composite is 1 higher than the higher reg score).
My brain is mush after working on our (homeschool) school profile on-and-off today
Although we are far behind many here, I’m so proud of D17s burst of energy around applying to colleges. She just scheduled her first formal interview with the admission rep of a school on her apply to list who will be in town next month! Baby steps, I’ll take them!
I appreciate the feedback on revisits, or visiting after being accepted. I think that for D17 it will be key. Right now it’s all just possibilities, will be nice when she is making a firm choice.
Congrats on acceptances to all! =D>
Question on the common app. Any kids out there using the writing section to elaborate on activities?
Hmm so I’m guessing that prompt only appears for certain demographics in order write about their “unique life experiences and cultural traditions”.
