@LMHS73 you’re welcome. My son has decided to do the Jan test as well.
D21 took the Oct 1 SAT too, boy she got killed on writing and reading. 580 on reading/writing and 680 on math.
She omitted 14 questions on reading by running out of time, missed 4 of the 34 she answered.
Writing she omitted 13 questions, missed 2 of the 29 she answered
Math omitted 9 and got all the rest correct.
She worked all problems until they told her to stop. She did not guess on any
Waiting on QAS also
@VANURSEPRAC Why would she omit? There’s no longer a penalty on guessing incorrectly or getting a question wrong.
Maybe because she didn’t have time to bubble?
It shouldn’t take that long to go through and bubble each question you haven’t gotten to as a C or something and it would probably mean you get a couple more questions right in every section.
We’re talking about an 8th grader here, she’s got time to work on time management. I think she did well on the questions she did answer.
Yes, I am amazed with the math score especially, and overall, if she didn’t have time enough to finish!
S18 said PSAT felt about the same as his practice tests, which would be good as those were all NMF level. Thinks he missed one math. He takes the SAT Nov 5, as we wanted him to take it on the heels of his PSAT prep class. I just texted him to remind him of it, as I am pretty sure he has forgotten all about it! :))
December is so far away, I wish there was a way to get the PSAT scores sooner. I’ll bet the CB could make big bucks offering express score reports for 11th grade PSAT tests.
I’m sure they’d love that … so I have to assume that there’s some issue holding them back. I see that there’s a final PSAT test on Nov 2 and the scores come out a month later. Does the CB need all the test sheets in order to calculate some sort of curve for the final scores?
did any of your DDs or DSs go trick or treating? Mine put on a costume and went to a party, but no candy. There were plenty of high schoolers out in our neighborhood having fun though.
Yes! My D18 and her sister, D22, along with a friend, dressed up and went out. They love it and wouldn’t miss it for as long as they can! They even begged DH to go with them just like he always has.
I remember going out to nearby neighborhoods from my dorm in college. They didn’t mind as we were the only trick or treaters they got, we dressed up, and we were really grateful for those last few years of “childhood” memories.
We usually get a fair number of teens through but this year numbers were down across all ages. Always a fun night.
No, mine had practice until 8 per usual and still had homework to do. She did throw on a quick costume to hand out candy to the last few kids to come through. She went to parties Friday and Saturday night to top off a very busy two weeks of competitions, homecoming, field trips, and end of quarter stuf so I think she was fine just hanging out at home last night. Most of the high school Halloween parties were over the weekend because Monday was a school night and the aforementioned end of quarter. College kids on the other hand . . . .
My DS18 and DS20 Did Trick or Eat with their Boy Scout Troop where they collected can goods for the local food pantry. No costumes, all the boys wore bright orange Trick or Eat shirts.
My son had about ten friends over. They did costume and ran around outside for a bit without actually trick or treating, then watched a scary movie. A bit stressful for me and my spouse trying to feed a bunch of teens and still get ready for Halloween with his younger sibling, but always nice when they hang at our house instead of driving.
D18 stayed at home last night. She took a night off from homework so we could watch ‘The Halloween Tree’ movie that she has watched every year since she can remember. We also have other Halloween movies on DVD - Charlie Brown, Garfield, etc., but she was only interested in the first one. Very nostalgic for her. She also passed out the candy, although only 12 kids come to the door. Fun night though and we have lots of extra candy to enjoy!
My S went over to a friend’s house, supposedly to hand out candy. Actually they watched Children of the Corn!
Both D17 and D18 trick or treated, in costume, with their friends. I think they’re still in sugar comas.
It’s popular in this neighborhood to encourage the bigger kids to trick or treat, because it’s a good way to keep them involved with the community, and their costumes are often so good the younger kids want their picture taken with them (although this year both girls went more low key).
There was one person in the neighborhood that had a list of rules for getting candy on a big sign on their front porch-from what I’ve heard the majority of the neighborhood boycotted them, lol.
Conditional candy-what stinkers…
@MotherOfDragons I’ve never heard of such a thing! I’d boycott them too!
S’18 had band practice and then went to a friends to watch scary movies. I think our neighborhood was loaded with trick or treaters, but my car has been having transmission problems, so we went car shopping. Not the best way to spend Halloween, but it was a 2003 with well over 100k miles, so I can’t complain too much. Now I have to get used to making car payments again.
In really great news, S’18 found out today that he made the all-state band. He worked hard for it and is psyched.
