Update: Twin A is passing DE calculus at the moment. She also called her first choice college and her ED application portal is all up to date so we are just in waiting mode. Both girls are slated to hear ED decisions on 12/15. Not my favorite twin scenario at all. At least they aren’t trying to get into the same school.
Can we just skip all of the holidays and go right to Dec. 15?
D19 scored 30 on the October ACT!! She is very excited AND done with testing!! Sending out score reports but since her intended major at her schools all had early deadlines, I am wondering if she should send update email to admissions counselors.
@TwinMom2023 I can barely fathom the stress of ED, but with twins, wow!
D19 got her first acceptance with a just over 1/2 tuition scholarship. Not unexpected but nice to have one in the books. This is her second choice school, but there are still 4 schools we have not visited so time will tell. Just a waiting game now. Have 1 more safety RD app to send in. This is a “mom’s choice” and a financial safety. She isn’t keen on the school, but also hasn’t seen it yet so it’s still on the list. I think she would like it and is very strong in both the major/minors she is looking for.
On another note, is there a way on CC to bookmark a whole page/section? I would like notification of new threads/comments on existing threads in specific school pages. I can only find a way to bookmark threads…am I missing something?
@EENYMum , I would think they will still consider those Oct scores, as seeing how many schools expect test results/LORS/external supplemental info to come in after the deadline and decisions typically don’t come out until December. . But I don’t think it would look bad to email it in. She could always email one and judge from that answer whether to do the rest. Now if any schools are rolling, I think yes, I would let them know ASAP.
Congratulations @ILMom13579 ! Fingers crossed your daughter likes the financial safety just as much.
I am not sure you can bookmark a certain part of a thread, but the bookmarks I have, when I receive notifications it takes me to where I last read…I think ?
Thanks @EENYMum - yes I have some bookmarks of specific threads (Parents of the HS Class of 2019 - 3.0 to 3.4 GPA ). But there are some colleges where I’d like to follow the entire board because they are not commented on very often so bookmarking the board instead of one or more threads on the board will help keep me from stalking it every day, lol!
I’ve been traveling for the last week so couldn’t check/post here but S19 was accepted to Colorado State last week. He found out within about one week of applying (he applied on 10/30 which was a free day for Colorado high school students and received his acceptance on 11/7). I think we’re done with all of our applications - he was going to apply to Tulane EA but I think he’s struggling with writing another essay (“Why Tulane” - his love of Cajun food isn’t enough) and his chances of getting in are slim. So now we just wait on the remaining 4 schools.
Hey @EENYMum , I saw on CC in another thread that someone’s child saw that their Oct ACT was already shown as received in a school’s system (he could see it through the portal). So it sounds like those scores are already being sent to schools.
All my daughter’s EA schools said they would have decisions in the 12/10-12/31 range. Hate the wait and she does not want to look in the portals so it may make it take longer. Oh well, it is her process as my wife has said.
If the college post that they accept “the official test scores sent directly to the college from the testing agency no later than December 31, 2018”, will there be a chance for ACT test score test on 8th Dec meet this deadline?
@TwinMom2023 Ugh. that’s super stressful. I’m hoping we hear before 12/15…last year stuff started tricking in for ED on 12/4 and I swear year they moved the deposit date up 2 weeks so…
@mom2cats welcome! I will say (warn?) that urban, large school and budget contrstaints are generally not a great combo. We have some budget issues and have found very few schools that were urban that fit our budget and my kids stats. YMMV. But, both of mine would have loved to find something that fit the budget in Boston and it flat out didn’t exist. I will also say that while doing some research now is helpful, they can change their mind SO much between now and when things get more serious it’s crazy. So don’t spend “too” much time. That said, I’d really look at Northern Arizona, Arizona State if she would have a chance at Barrett Honors and maybe even Colorado State. Which sounds funny, Colorado. But there are 237 sunny days in Fort Collins and when it is wet, it’s snow. What about Temple?
@ILMom13579 I’ve never figured out how to bookmark the school forum itself, just a thread within it. If you figure it out, let us know!
@carolinamom2boys YAY!!! Isn’t Flager a top choice? That’s wondeful, congratulations!!!
@nukesmom congrats! We are in at CSU as well, very fast notificaiton. Recieved the actual packet today which confirmed the WUE scholarship but the full financial packet sounds like another few weeks.
@my2greatkids if the school has rolling as an option and your student isn’t denied, then yes they would likely be deferred to regular (rolling) admissions. Not all regular decision admissions are rolling though.
@ashmomhk if you do free score send, and your child does not do the written, and they do not have accomodations, yes, there is a chance but not a garuntee.
@DCNatFan welcome to the club. My kid is set on going to a Cali school. She’s applied to 4 schools in Cali and one in Arizona. She’ll be over the moon if she ends up there. I’ve come to terms with it primarily because she’ll have support out there in the form of friends of the family.
