Parents of the HS Class of 2019 - 3.0 to 3.4 GPA

@Nhatrang, no worries—it can get confusing.

Very impressed with Ohio Wesleyan’s admission office. First they notified my daughter of a nice scholarship. Then the dean of admissions sends a handwritten note saying my daughter could be a part of their new crew team (she has rowed 4 years but not planning to do it in college). Then she is invited to a scholarship competition. We had requested an overnight and maybe being able to see a class as we arrive a day plus before the competition. They sent a schedule including the overnight (with name/contact info for girl she is staying with), a meeting with a business professor (1 on 1), a meeting with an admissions officer, campus tour, and then sitting in on class with same professor (in Business Marketing which is my daughter’s area of interest).
Day after is the competition which also has some other events and is sort of like an admitted students day.

Might work better for you!

To answer what I think you are asking, colleges aren’t going to directly compare your dd’s grades to those where kids are graded on a different scale. They really can’t. Some schools grade on a 100 pt scale. Some grade with 90-100 being an A. At some 93-100 is an A, etc. Don’t worry about that part. You guidance counselor should be telling the colleges (as part of their report or the profile sent) what kind of scale yours grades on.

If it helps at all for fun though, you can plug the grades from every year into raise.me and they will give you what they consider the unweighted grade will be on a 4.0 scale.

@natty1988 Congratulations

@JBSeattle nice. It is always refreshing to hear of institutions having it together. There are so many moving parts, I suppose it is a challenge to organize student overnights and class visit. Well done Ohio Wesleyan.

Just received unexpectedly early acceptances and very generous merit offers for both S19s from College of Wooster. Wasn’t expecting to hear from them until late March, but very happy nonetheless!

Great news @Britmom5 !!!

@Britmom5 Congratulations to your sons! What a nice surprise leading into the long weekend.

Congrats @Britmom5 ! I love when a surprise is good news! How do your sons feel about Wooster?

Nice @Britmom5 !!

Not a good Friday here.
Denied by Clemson - her top choice.
D19 got into a car accident this afternoon (no one hurt) but both cars needed to be towed and the police officer found her to be at fault.
Happy Friday!

@DCNatFan That is indeed a terrible Friday. I’m glad everyone is physically OK, but I’m sure your D is very upset. Hugs to her (and her mom).

@DCNatFan

I think the Friday your DD experienced has meaning in all of this.

In the big picture, the Clemson denial is nothing.

What really matters happened! Your DD didn’t get hurt and she is still healthy and safe.

At the end of the day, we (and our kids) are healthy and safe. Going to a dream school is nothing if you don’t have your health.

@DCNatFan I am so sorry to hear this. Your poor daughter. So glad she is ok. Sending healing thoughts her/your way

@DCNatFan - I am so sorry. Glad that she is ok…sending you all hugs.

@DCNatFan So sorry for both the accident and the denial. Puts things in perspective. Glad everyone is okay. She still has great choices. Better days ahead!

@DCNatFan sorry for a horrid Friday! Glad she is ok though.

Keep your head up @DCNatFan !

@DCNatFan
Oh no! I worry about my kids every day, especially since my younger D20 got her license last week. I can only imagine how shook you and your D are. Thank goodness everyone is okay. Sorry to hear about Clemson too.

@DCNatFan I’m so sorry- what a horrible day. Glad she’s safe. When my boys were looking at boarding school in 9th grade, the popular statement on CC around date of acceptances (March10) was “love the school that loves you”. I hope she has a school that loves her passionately.

@DCNatFan I am so so sorry about both events but so grateful she is ok.
