Parents of the HS Class of 2019 - 3.0 to 3.4 GPA

So - quite unexpectedly - we have TWO dragons! Both arrived at the decision to attend Drexel independently and via VERY different routes. Couldn’t be happier to have both boys in the same place, with a third one of my sons living very close by.

@Britmom5 Congratulations! Sure does simplify things to have them at the same school. I secretly hope the same for D19 & D20, but don’t tell D20 I said that.

@Britmom5 I’ll have a freshman and a senior at the same school next year. Makes life a whole lot easier.

Congrats @Britmom5, what a great surprise!
@Novacat9191 I don’t know the schools, but they seem similar in many ways. It’s great to have a choice, but also hard to have to choose. I’m sure your D can’t go wrong with either one.

@Britmom5 Congratulations! A happy coincidence! Best of luck to all your sons!

D19 has committed to Sacred Heart University in CT in their 3+3 DPT program. Will be a Bio major for first 3 years. She ended up in the honors program and was super excited about that because they have their own new dorm and priority registration and advising. She actually decided last week, and it was down to two schools and I was so hoping it would be University of Scranton but finances worked out a little better and Sacred Heart is closer and easier for her to get home (and includes beautiful ferry ride that helps us to avoid all the NYC bridges, tolls and highways! She just gave Dad his swag for tomorrow. I have already purchased two dorm items :slight_smile: I can’t believe tomorrow is May 1st and find myself getting weepy at the slightest provocation!!! The next few months should be fun :slight_smile: Congratulations on all the great selections!!

@Novacat9191
Happy to give you my positive and negative comments about Manhattan if you want to PM me.

@EENYMum Your D had many great options - glad it’s worked out so well!

Unbelievably - Wooster just offered both boys another scholarship today. Makes their cost quite a bit more reasonable than where they’re going. Where’s an emoji when you need one…

@JBSeattle thanks for the offer but we have a decision…She will be a Jasper at Manhattan College!!! Happy we have a decision finally!!!

Okay, so my DD (dawdling daughter), after much angst and consulting has chosen to attend Haverford College. The final two choices were Carleton and Haverford. She loved both for different reasons and made a visit to each as an accepted student to give them full consideration. Our next door neighbors whose son is a recent Haverford alumnus were instrumental in helping her decide.

For many parents and families this was a bruising process. This is our last child to leave our house, so it’s going to be quite emotional dropping her off in August. Thanks to everyone who contributed and encouraged me throughout the last six months. I’ve been bitten by the CC bug and plan on sticking around awhile longer.

@EENYMum @Novacat9191 @lemon_drop
Congratulations on you daughters’ decision! Yay! Just under the wire.

And @Britmom5 Congrats on the additional scholarships. Even if they didn’t matter, it must be a good feeling for your sons.

@lemon_drop
Congrats on the decision. I suggest you try the White Dog Cafe that’s across the street from Haverford for Dinner during your next visit to campus!

So wonderful to read the decisions!

This is kid 3 for us. The where to attend decision process was more difficult than the waiting for results for each of our kids and I am relieved it is over.

Just moved my son out of his dorm and can’t believe how quickly his freshman year flew by.

Now we can all sit back and relax…who am I kidding, now we need to order graduation invitations, get through proms, senior trips and the whirlwind of May senior year.

Congrats @Novacat9191 !!!

So many congratulations!!!

Congrats @EENYMum!, @Novacat9191 and @lemon_drop!

@Britmom5 Congrats on the decision (and surprise extra scholarship–even if it was late and not the right school)!

@lemon_drop Congrats on DD’s decision to attend Haverford and her acceptance at Carleton. Do you have any advice or “lessons learned” re how she overcame the lower GPA to gain acceptance to these very selective schools? Thanks.

@augie696 I really liked Wooster - and loved all of the personal touches (handwritten letters from students and alumni etc). I was sorry that one was out of the running

I think lemon_drop is in the wrong thread.
