Do ACT scores typically come out after 10 days or has it been taking longer?

My kid took ACT on 9/9 and received scores on 9/20.

I hope I’m not making a huge mistake but I booked a tour of Susquehanna University in January. There’s a teacher in service day and I was hoping to use it to tour somewhere. UofDE or Ursinus are easy enough to drive up and home on the same day. Susquehanna we need to drive up at least part way and get a room before touring the next morning, it’s 4 hours away. My concern is the weather and am afraid to prebook a room, plus I work the day before and unless I can get out early won’t be home until 8pm. Susq just has so many programs my D is interested in making the 4 hour drive worthwhile but precarious!

I’d book a room that you can cancel penalty-free, then hope for the best! You can always reschedule the tour weather is looking bad.

Is everybody out of school? Crossing my fingers bc it looks like we made it to holiday week without flu or strep. Just mountain cedar allergies.

School goes until Friday which is a half day. No extra time off for my daughter she goes back the 2nd so basically only a week off.

D25 gets done Wednesday. We’ve had some good chats about post grad plans recently. College list being modified and tweaked.

Big bro S23 is back from college. He is learning his lesson about signing up for classes late. Next semester will be rough. He does not do great with early mornings!

S25’s last day/last exam was December 14th. S23 came home on the 11th. His last final (virtual/online) was the 13th. Nice to have everyone home and be operating at a relaxed pace.

Last final was on Friday. Semester ended fine, particularly given how challenging it was. S25 has barely left his room since school got out, but I plan to coax him out today with Starbuck’s or something else enticing.

Hope everyone has a great holiday!

Ugh that doesn’t seem fair. I think people here would revolt if we got that little, they do love a vacation over break.

We (me) barely made it through last week. Between mid-terms and a summer app that was due there was not near enough sleep.

DE classes all had finals last week, but the local school district has classes through this Thursday, so C25 has to show up for a perfunctory class session tomorrow (they’re watching a movie and eating cookies) to satisfy contact hour requirements.

FWIW, the two older siblings in college finished college classes last week and the week before, so we currently have 3/4 at home, with the college grad set to arrive later this week.

D25 Current list to look deeper into. Still LONG! She is my solid 3.0 kid and will go TO. She wants a contained campus (number of students matters less than spatial layout we are finding). A campus that looks “nice” (somewhat updated or well cared for historic). Diverse student body and not a commuter campus. Wants to still be able to take dance classes (possibly a minor) and perhaps criminology or sociology type major.

Great list! I don’t know how reachy some of these are (I think St Louis U is tough) but D23 loved Creighton and Butler. My mom actually went to Dean in the 60s when it was a junior college, she still talks about how great it is, Franklin is adorable.

Are you planning on a big visit vacation? I’d love to hear her feelings about each one!

D25 finished her classes for the term and is lounging for the first time in ages today. Covid hit 3/4 of the family the week before finals, so we’re all just stumbling to the finish line. What, you mean you’re supposed to decorate the Christmas tree? We might just stick with lights. That advent calendar I forgot about? Feel free to eat lots of (mediocre) chocolate, kids. And the uncompleted recipes for Christmas cookies? Well, the ingredients will keep. How about New Year’s Cookies? S27 is in finals through Thursday. Saying prayers that he gets enough sleep while sharing a room with his sister (as I have been quarantining in his room to avoid infecting my husband).

Would you be willing to share about Creighton? As I’ve been drilling down on ballet opportunities it actually sounds like they have more options than many…although I’m realizing that more does not equal a lot or advanced, but it’s something. It’s less known around here and in the books I own, so I’d love impressions.

She needs to look into each one and I m sure a few will quickly drop off her list. Admittedly she is not the greatest dancer but she has loved taking classes and says she will really feel out of sorts if she isnt able to continue for awhile. A deep dive into what courses dance minors are allowed to take will be important to her as well.

We are thinking about heading to U of Southern Mississippi in March for a short weekend during one of their high school dance days.
She has toured LeMoyne and really liked the small campus feel and the super friendly and supportive vibe she got there.
My guess is UNL and UMN will be too big for her and come off the list for that reason too.

Just a curiosity…is it common for you to have finals and the end of the semester by the winter break? For my daughter, she has her finals after MLK day and they start the new semester late January. There is so much less time to cover a full semester of materials September - December v. January - June, so I am curious how your schools handle that difference in time for material in fall v. spring semesters.
