D26 was admitted to Pitzer today! So excited. Both her schools I loved on visits she is in!

D26 has got into a few schools that she is happy about (Pitzer, American, UW, UCR & UCSC and a bunch of safety schools that she is no longer considering), sad about getting rejected at UCI, resigned about getting WL at UCD. Now waiting on the remaining UCs (dream schools), Cal Poly SLO, SDSU, Scripps, USC & UBC. It’s going to be a long March …. At this moment UW is her top choice but the price tag is high. I really hope one of the UCs comes through for her. This waiting is killing me!

Yes! And I’m not counting out my oldest yet – she has 8 grad school acceptances. She just turned down 1 for reasons, and there’s 1 more that she’s really not interested in – but she’s considering the other 6. One of those is here in state, so we could possibly make it 3 for 3.

Many congrats. I so get the sentiment of not wanting to love it because of “proximity to home” but from what you’ve said it clearly checks all the boxes - and free tuition .
I love Ga Tech and think it has so much to offer. And that new major is amazing!
She will have the best time.

Starting to feel all the senior mom feels this week.
Wrapped up school cheer and closed the book on 4 years of that
Gearing up for senior spring break
Cap and gown pick up next week
And my favorite…. Senior assassin has started. I love that they are all playing this silly game and it crosses friend groups and is seemingly more safe than “junior-senior wars” which for S24 resulted in an egged car and more recently here resulted in a tragic accident with a teacher dying at a local school.
Much to D26’s dismay I’m kind of getting into it with her. Mostly my competitive nature but also sort of hanging on to having her here.
She’s so ready and now I’m emotional. (And realizing all the things we need to take care of before she leaves for her summer camp job in June).

There are only 32 days of school left for seniors at D26’s school. In that time, here’s some of what’s happening in her sphere –
-- Senior girl & mom brunch
-- HS spring play (kid has a lead and is so excited)
-- Jazz band concert
-- Evergreen lunch at school (for seniors who started in kindergarten, plus families)
-- Theatre banquet
-- Shuler nominations and possible award ceremony attendance (Georgia high school musical theatre awards)
-- Prom
-- Spring symphonic band concert
-- Final presentation of senior STEM project (before panel of judges, but families invited)
-- Senior honors ceremony
-- Senior week (lots of festivities including college t-shirt and painted skort day, senior sunset, etc. culminating with riding scooters around the quad on Friday before final senior chapel and senior lunch)
After school is out, she still has three AP exams, a mandatory yearbook dedication ceremony (which she’ll prob miss because of an AP exam, lol), senior class trip, baccalaureate, and then finally graduation on Memorial Day weekend.
Oh, and in that time we’re flying to go to D22’s college graduation, but D26 will fly out the next morning to be back for her Calc BC exam.
All good things, but the reality – and finality – of all this is starting to hit.
