If you haven’t seen this, check it out! Some schools are having no application fees for the entire month of October, some even longer, and some just for a week or two. But in addition to the public New York schools there are privates like Colgate, Fordham, Siena, and Vassar on the list.
In an effort to lower financial barriers for high schoolers heading to college, New York is expanding financial aid and waiving college application fees. Governor Kathy Hochul proclaimed October New York State College Application Month and announced free applications for almost 130 institutions statewide, including the State University of New York, the City University of New York, and dozens of private colleges.
Waived application fees typically range from $50 to $90 each.
Applications for state and federal financial aid are open for students enrolling in the 2026/2027 school year.
