Solidarity with all of y’all (and your kids) feeling the stress this week!
I am, too, except only tangentially due to app deadlines. D26 had all the time in the world to make this 2-minute video for Miami Ohio’s game design major, but she just now is looking at the specifics, and she realized she’s not supposed to show her face – it’s supposed to be voice-over while she shows things she’s created. So, back to the drawing board on that. And she’s not sure if it’s due Friday at midnight or Saturday at midnight. Oy. That’s on her, though.
She asked a friend to do a peer recommendation for one school that requires it, and he has not yet. It’s due Nov 15, but she told him Nov 1, lol. Unclear whether he has even acknowledged the email, and she has not followed up. So, yeah.
But otherwise, juggling a bunch of life stuff. D22 messaged today saying her phone had died. Newish phone under warranty, so no problem, we can replace it – but she’s desperate to turn it on to pull off her data. It will not turn on. (Have we told her to back up often? Yes, yes we have.) She has tried every sort of hard and soft reset, you name it. Oy. Fingers crossed UBreakIfix can salvage it tomorrow.
D26 auditioned for the musical yesterday and was called back for some bit parts tomorrow. (Which is fine, she doesn’t really sing or dance, just wants to be on stage for some big ensemble numbers and maybe have a line or two.) Fingers crossed that happens. The bigger audition is next week for the spring play – there are a couple roles in that that she really wants, and she has a good shot, but there is a lot of competition.
My parents (who live in assisted living in another state) are trying to sell some property, and they don’t know what they’re doing, and I’m trying to assist from afar. They have an offer. This sale is happening more than a decade later than it should have. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.
S25 has had a rough few weeks for several reasons. And he just found out today that he didn’t get a job that he applied for that he really wanted at the campus TV station. 20 people interviewed and went through the training, and they made 4 offers. I told him to follow up and make nice in an email, and he got a response saying so sorry we can’t offer you a paid position right now, but please come in next week to talk to us about some volunteer stuff, and then we can chat again about a paid position. I got a text saying, “You were right, mom, followup email was a good call.” HA! Imagine. We’re driving out tomorrow to see him and go to his “film premiere” – too much to detail here, but I want to lay eyes on him and make sure he’s okay.
Too many other piddly life things going on, and my brain is going through it. Bah!
