Oh, that’s so hard! Thinking of you and your family.
If sleep is for the weak, then I must be the strongest person out there, because I have been struggling to sleep for way too long.
Good luck with the hot chocolate station and the final marching band show. So bittersweet seeing all these “lasts”.
I’m so very sorry. ![]()
Oh no, I’m so sorry. Hugs to you and your family.
I am so sorry
Big Hugs to you and your family.
My daughter found out this morning that she was accepted to Penn State! That had always been at the top of her list so she’s excited. She’s going to have a very big decision to make now. I can’t get a great handle on where she’s at with things at this point, but I think the University of Delaware may have stolen her heart within the last couple months. I feel like she may be in love with the idea of Penn State, but the reality of Delaware. Then there’s Pitt which we haven’t even seen yet. And the other schools she applied to as well. Though I think only two of those are actually serious contenders. I am glad she has such a good head on her shoulders because this is going to be a hard decision!
Yay! Huge congrats to her! Sounds like she’s going to have some fantastic choices.

There is one member on the Pitt thread whose kid always dreamed of being at Penn State, but she has some really good academic opportunities at Pitt, so now she’s conflicted.
I think the more urban campus of Pitt really appeals to some kids and not so much to others? So yours might feel strongly one way or the other. We haven’t visited yet either, but I’m looking forward to seeing what mine thinks in February!
I’m interested to see how C26 feels about that too. They love Boulder/the small town college feel, but they don’t really seem to have a strong preference about location other than it needs to be “nice” (which seems to be totally subjective). They are more constrained by which schools offer what they want to do than most here seem to be. There’s a mix of college town and urban on their list, and others that got rejected because “I don’t want to live there for 4 years”.
I am so sorry, it is hard..hugs!
Yay!! Congratulations!! So happy for your kid
I saw that post and it hit me in the feels, because I think that’s where we are now with Penn State and Delaware. There’s a tiny part of me that’s hoping she’s NOT into the urban campus of Pitt just so there isn’t another variable added into the mix. We will know on that soon enough!
I feel you!
I am counting chickens which I shouldn’t be doing, but IF my kid gets into RIT, Miami Ohio and Georgia Tech (that last one is a big if) – she’s already in Pitt – then I think she’ll really struggle choosing among the four.
Well, we haven’t seen Pitt yet, but she does like the idea of an urban campus. But she likes all of these schools for different reasons.
We’re going to be rolling the fancy dice to decide, I suspect – again, IF she has all of these to choose from.
Penn State acceptance for my D26 too! It’s a top choice for her, but still a while to wait to hear from our in-state options. She also applied to Pitt (accepted) and UDel (waiting) - sounds like anxiousmom D26 and mine have similar choices!
YAY!!! Congrats to your kiddo!
I asked C26 if Boulder is still top choice and got a shrug. That may change with an actual admit but right now I think they’re feeling the love from Pitt (unlike many of you, this wasn’t a safety /easy target).
Hooray!!!

Congrats!
Yes, looks like they have some overlap! My daughter didn’t apply to any in-state options -she maintains that while this is 100% the best state in the country, she needs to take this opportunity to get away from here so that she will appreciate it that much more when she returns,
. I’m pretty sure she just said that to placate us. But we are waiting on merit, honors, a couple of other schools and cheer stuff now.
Just got Q1 report card. Her highest GPA of any quarter and High Honors for the second quarter in a row! Unfortunately not really going to make a decision on any apps unless she gets deferred but still very proud of her hard work, especially during one of the toughest quarters!
That’s awesome! Congratulations!
S22 is about an hour from the airport and it’s nice that he can drive himself. His first year it was a pain. And next year he will drive S26 too. D24 is only 15 minutes and she can generally get a friend to take her and maybe pick her up, but Uber worked too.
We buy 1-way tickets for S22 because we guess his schedule due to marching band. We don’t know when he has to be back for a bowl game until December. We picked Dec 27 and it’s over $400! One-way! Crazy. The way home earlier is only $250, which is typical. Still expensive, but so much easier than driving to Atlanta instead just to save money on the ticket.
