Parents of the HS Class of 2026

I only picked this up because our school’s Latin teachers are called magister and magistra  ..my own knowledge of Latin is vanishingly small.

That’s awesome! Those little boosts are sooo nice.

Too soon. :joy:

But seriously, if they told you the wrong date, then that’s on the school. (But glad you got it in!)

My D22 is applying to speech-language pathology grad programs, and most of them use the CSDCAS, which is a common app specifically for SLP programs. Seven of the schools D22 is applying to use this application (sometimes in addition to their own separate app), but three schools on her list use their own thing.

The CSDCAS classifies programs as blue, orange or green. Blue means the app needs to be submitted by the deadline, but the supplemental materials like transcript and rec letters can come later. Orange means everything needs to be in by the deadline, no exceptions. And green means the transcript needs to be in and verified by the deadline, which means it actually needs to be received several weeks before.

Both of the schools she was submitting to today were orange, hence the panic!

They did, I even have the receipts. Showed the email to my daughter and forwarded it to the prospective student I did the rec for to prove it was not my fault. :joy:

I can still hear my middle school Latin teacher saying “Salvete discipuli” and we’d say “Salve Magistra”

Something similar apparently happened yesterday for USF-CA. In the middle of the day, the portal status went from “under review” to “decided” (but no decision letter). Several hours later, it went back to under review. My D didn’t notice, but it apparently prompted some to call admissions looking for their decision!

D26’s ED1 school emailed with an update, earlier decision date. She’ll find out in 9 days. :grimacing:

Fingers crossed for you. Hoping she is done then and you all can relax.

Mine is 17 today and jokingly told me he’s reached the age of consent. Lord help me! His sense of humor is so funny to me, especially as an autistic kid who is a complete nerd. I wouldn’t have it any other way!

D26 got home from school today and said, “Guess what? BFF got into UPenn with a full ride scholarship!”

Which scholarship? D26 doesn’t know and didn’t ask. But it’s one that the kid was working w/the counselor on during multiple lunch periods for awhile.

I’m over the moon excited and thrilled for D26’s friend. That’s amazing.

I think Questbridge matches came out yesterday. Maybe that’s what it is. Amazing news!!

Yeah, my gut says it was Questbridge. She’s an amazing kid.

For those with older kids, does it seem to you that EA decisions are coming out much later than what happened with your first kid?

My D22 had decisions from Oregon (rolling) Fordham, UVM, Macalester, UMichigan and UWisconsin all before winter break began. Most of these now say January for their release dates. Of that list, S26 only applied to UVM early action, but all of his other EA schools (besides

Pitt, which we hope to hear from soon) say that their EA decisions will be out in January.

In case it wasn’t obvious I am feeling very impatient!!

Yes, they did. My D said at her high school she knows of 3 to Princeton, 1 Yale, 1 Standford, 2 Columbia, 1 Duke, 1 Boston College, and 1 University of Chicago – that she knows so far!

There are definitely more in January than I remember with my S20 and S22.

Most of my D22’s list didn’t offer EA, so I don’t have any frame of reference. She did hear from UGA early, and that release date is still early – it was a couple weeks ago.

She heard from both Furman and Tulane EA in January – I’m pretty sure?

And then she applied to Rice, Emory, WashU, Northwestern, Brown, Wake Forest and Davidson – all RD, and all released end of March. :woman_facepalming: That wait made us crazy!

OOS. Last year Michigan and Wisconsin were January I think. Fordham was before the holidays. PSU before. Indiana was rolling and Kelley came out in February. Clemson likely 12/11.

Yes the March wait is sooooo long!!! Ugh! Did you feel like it gave enough time to make a decision?
