Yes. I can only offer up our experience. I went there myself, we visited a few years ago as we are OOS. The OOS acceptances are a little all over the place. My kids’ MA high school doesn’t weight gpa’s, doesn’t rank and DE is not common. So I think right off the bat, it’s trickier for them to assess some apps. Last year the high stats kids (1450+ sat) seemed to get in EA. Many others deferred and rejected. Mine got into business TO with a 3.8 after being deferred. And at that she got summer start. She ended up at a different school. My senior applied this year to Clemson and is higher stats hoping for honors college and merit and we anticipate she will get in EA but who knows? It’s not high up on her list but we will see!
Boulder truly has a stunning backdrop. We live about 15 miles from the CU campus, and there are still times when I’m driving west towards the Flatirons and am totally wowed by the view.
But being so close to campus is a strike against CU from S26’s perspective. My husband and I have tried to argue that once on campus and focused on college life, he’ll forget about how close he is to home. (We gave the same argument to D22, and even tried to bribe her with weekly sushi dinners, but didn’t work.)
PS…if you have any questions about CU and/or the surrounding area, feel free to message me. I’m happy to share what I know or tap into my local network to find out. ![]()
Thank you! Yes, the backdrop is stunning, and we thought the tours were really well done (both general and department) but what really stood out for us was how happy the students seemed - both on and off campus. Even doing their weekly grocery shop in Trader Joe’s you could feel the vibe! Here’s hoping we will be back for an admitted students day ![]()
But..I can totally see proximity to home being a negative for a student. He will end up where he’s meant to be and maybe it will be just down the road and only seeing you once a month!
D26 just got her ED1 acceptance to RIT.
So excited and now I can stop with the insanity of trying to figure out when they drop decisions!!! ![]()
Congratulations ![]()
Congratulations!!! Just in time for the weekend that you can (hopefully) now relax for.
Fabulous!! What a gift before the holidays! Congrats.
Yay, that’s so great!!! One of my best friends’ has a son who is a freshman there, he is loving it!
Now you can sit back, relax, and mock our emotional anxiety.
Yay, huge congrats!! Wonderful news indeed!
My D22 is applying to CU Boulder for grad school (along with nine other programs, lol) – she has three applications due on Dec 15, and Boulder is one of them. Let’s hope she gets it together and this batch goes more smoothly than the ones due on Dec 1. ![]()
If it becomes a real option, I might be picking your brain! She has never been to Colorado (except for one limb during a family vacation years ago when we stopped at Four Corners
).
OMG! OMG! Hoooooray!! Here I was just casually reading the thread from where I left off and answering other posts before coming across this one! ![]()
Fabulous news. So excited for her! Hoping my kiddo gets the same news in January! (If they could just HURRY UP with that, that would be great, lol.)
Please pass along any and all details between now and then! Huge congrats! ![]()
Sending your D22 lots of focused and productive energy between now and the 15th! And yes, if CU ends up being a contender, feel free to reach out.
PS…when I was reading your post, I initially thought “limb” was a typo…until I got to “Four Corners” and then it clicked. Hopefully the other 3 limbs will get an opportunity to visit Colorado too. ![]()
