Big news here. My daughter committed to the University of Delaware last night. She had been ready for a while, but we wanted to go down there one more time before she finalized her decision. We did that this past weekend. This school was a surprise for us. Knew very little about it, but a friend told us we should check it out and she absolutely loved it - the vibe, the aesthetic, the people, the location, the size, and though it was more of safety for her, they have solid programs (and especially appealing some 4+1 and 3+2 programs) in areas that she is interested in. She got great merit, was accepted to the honors college and offered a spot on their cheer team. She is so incredibly excited. For my part, Iām just so proud of her. Not only for her hard work in the classroom and on the cheerleading mat, but most of all for not worrying about prestige (she had acceptances from more prestigious and more āpopularā schools) and making the right choice for her. I wish I had that kind of confidence at that age. Go Hens!
Congratulations! Iāve heard great things about University of Delaware!
Yes, Iām well aware that everyone hates the Patriots, but I love em. Iāve loved them since before they were any good.
Anne Michael Maye is the cutest. Her and Drake are the most wholesome couple.
I didnāt have a problem with the Pats until they started beating the Steelers in every AFC Championship. LOL!!
āThey hate us cause they aināt usā, lol. We will see how it goes this time around in the playoffs. The Pats look really good, but they havenāt exactly had the hardest schedule this year.
Awesome! Sounds like a fantastic choice. And YAY for being done with this process!
We know a freshman there this year who is having a great experience. (Who also did competitive cheer for years but I donāt think sheās cheering at Delaware.)
I mentioned that my D22 is applying there for grad school. Biggest draw for her (in addition to the program sheās looking at) is to be able to take the train directly into NYC, lol.
One of the programs my daughter is interested in is the 3+2 program for Cognitive Science BS/SLP masters. The health sciences campus (not too far from the main part of the campus), where they have the Speech Language Hearing Clinic is pretty impressive. They are doing a lot of building down there.
Being an Eagles fan, the proximity to Philly was a draw. As my husband said āyouāre going to be on brand down hereā.
That is so awesome!!
Our D26 has committed to a school that was not even on her radar last year!! So fun to watch how these things can play out and the path that gets them to their top picks!!!
Hopefully they can now relax and breathe easy for the rest of senior year!
Huge congrats!!! We love UD (itās my sonās #2 choice) so we may end up there too. Keeping fingers crossed for the Tuition Exchange scholarship, so we wonāt know until March. Very happy for you and her!
Sounds like the perfect school for her! Congrats!
D26 goes back to school tomorrow!! Had to wake up for an early appointment today and that was rough for her
. She is now back asleep. Going to be rough the next few days as she readjusts to her school routine.
The break these last few weeks was really good.
We made it through the entirety of Stranger Things. (started during Thanksgiving break)
I really liked it over all- worth the watch for anyone who is still on the fence about watching it. Maybe a little overboard to have watch it all over the last couple of months- recommend that you pace yourselves unlike we did- I think I have a Stranger Things hangover of some sorts

Hubby and S20 both got really sick for about a week- so that was a bummer- but luckily D26, my Mom who was visiting, and I somehow escaped it all and remained feeling great!
S20 got so bad the I took him to the ER
. He ended up being fine- they ādrugged himā up really well and gave him some fluids and that perked him up enough to let him get back home and ride it out.
Even though D26 is done with her college search- I am eagerly waiting in anticipation to her the outcomes for those still waiting!!
Good luck to all your students!
I am amazed that you started with Season 1 at Thanksgiving and got through all of it, lol! I feel a little hung over just from watching the 12 hours of Season 5 in the last four days. ![]()
Love this! Congratulations! A good high school friend went to Delaware and loved it. Sounds like she found her place.
Every kid we know at UDEL loves it! Congrats to her, so exciting!!
I loved watching Stranger Things with my kids -also I loved the ending. As my daughter put it, āItās a very mom endingā -haha!
YES. I loved all the details in the epilogue, and weāre still talking about it. ![]()
Lots of extended family who are alums of UD (including two who met there and ended up getting married) - they all loved it! Congratulations to your daughter!!!
Love the Pats from childhood (Iām from MA originally and used to attend games with my dad), but have never liked Brady. I cannot stand the Eagles (go Steelers). But jokeās on me - Iām a huge Giants fan. Hoping that they will be good next year!!
As you can imagine, we pretty vehemently hate the Giants in our house. Only time we (apathetically) root for them is when they are playing the Cowboys.
Completely agree with you about the Cowboys!
