My kids immediately insisted on starting Stranger Things all over again with season 1 episode 1! We watched it last night and it actually worked very well to rewatch it after the ending since there are plenty of little details that echo between these two episodes.
Hopefully the Jaxon and Skattebo show will continue full force next season!! (I was so hoping we would draft Skattebo- I fell in love with his style when ASU almost beat my Longhorns!)
C26âs S1 grades are all in now. They slipped to a B for AP Macro but As for everything else, so they are pretty happy. Also confirms the CSF lifetime award (needed to qualify during one semester senior year for that). They had quipped before that if they didnât get it theyâd just wear D19âs stole at graduation . Official report cards only come later this week but no grades are borderline so whatâs showing on canvas will be whatâs there. I canât believe we are into the home stretch nowâŠ
I am so thankful we got out of Schipohl on Saturday. It looks like an absolute mess at the moment with countless flights cancelled and people stranded for days. Our flight was one of the earlier ones out Saturday and we still got delayed for 2 hours for deicing and clearing the runway of snow so I think even if weâd had a later flight we might have got caught. Funnily enough the only time weâve ever had to overnight as stranded travelers for weather reasons wasâŠat Schiphol. Same time of year. Also involuntarily overnighted once at Heathrow but that was a plane issue with the crew having run out of hours by the time they fixed it.
â
Please no spoilers for Stranger Things, we still need to watch from episode 5!
So I really donât follow pro sports at all, but my husband grew up in Western Mass and is a rabid Red Sox and Celtics fan. But funny enough, his momâs side of the family is from Texas, so heâs also a Cowboys fan. He hates the Giants (and all NY teams) but is maybe just meh on the Pats? I could be wrong, lol.
I have learned, though, that people REALLY hate the Cowboys.
Did you hear the LOTR extended editions are being re-released in theaters this month for the 25th anniversary?
I LOVE these movies. We own them on DVD and have watched them as a family, but a theater near us was showing all three in a row when the third one was released â I soooo wanted to go see the whole thing then, but I was like 8 months pregnant with my oldest and had bad tailbone pain, and it just wasnât possible to sit for that long. I was distraught, lol. But I so hope I can make it work this month (theyâre being released on separate weekends, not all together).
ETA â wait, no, theyâre being released the 16, 17, 18 (one movie a day), and again on the 23, 24, 25, same. I donât think I can make that work. Oh, woe.
Random trivia, when these were coming out on DVD one of my co-workers brought over a quiz on LOTR. Turns out a buddy of his was working on the music for the DVDs, not for any scenes just when the DVD is first put on and you are looking at the menu, his buddy was working on that piece of music. The quiz was going to be an extra on the DVDs to test your knowledge of the movies, we got to take the quiz suggest questions and give feedback.
I donât know if it ever made it to production or not but was fun working on the questions. My extended edition are still shrink wrapped, I am waiting for them to go up in value like Pokemon cards.
In business school we had a class where people bid on a $50 bill as a sign of irrational customer behavior. The professor stopped the bidding when two guys got into it and went over 300.
D24 is taking a 3 week âJan Termâ class right now about music in movies and her HW involves watching the Fellowship of the Ring from the LOTR series. Theyâre going to watch all 3 movies during the classâŠplus ET and a couple of movies that Hans Zimmer did the score for.
I love Hans Zimmer and I love Movie Soundtracks. I often have Youtube up in the background at work with âEpic Movie Soundtrackâ in my search and awesome playlists going. There is just something about these types of movie scores that I love. Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone, Yann TiersenâŠand of course John Williams!
I love this! Now Iâm going to pull out my extended editions to see if thereâs a quiz, and if so, see if you recognize the questions.
I admire your restraint. We have eleventy billion Pokemon cards in our house, and exactly none of them are factory sealed, lol.
(My girls are the sort who have challenges to see who can name the most Pokemon in under five minutes. They might be nerds. I daresay D22 could take anyone in that particular challenge.)
That said, we spent one Thanksgiving break watching all the movies with the kids when my younger two were 11. Iâm fairly sure thatâs the reason D26 loves urban fantasy and speculative fiction of all kinds â except epic fantasy. (Pains me as someone who cut her teeth on Dragonlance.)
This is so fun! My oldest took a âHistory of Middle Earthâ student-taught class freshman year.
If you havenât seen or tried this already, online thereâs a quiz called âIs it a Pokemon or a prescription drug?â and it is hilarious! All 3 of my kids can ace that one, so Iâm now encouraging pharmacy school, lol.
One of our Covid family movies was The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Kids loved it and C26 âsangâ the theme song for ages afterwards! (And it will now ear worm me for the next week)
Same, lol. Although there are some figures that remain sealed in the original packaging.
I remember when they were first released- I was living in NYC at the time. My husband and I went to see them all at the Ziegfeld Movie Theatre, an amazing experience!
