Parents of the HS Class of 2026

I do not have access to s26s portal he wanted to take care of it himself so will just have to wait and see, I know USC is today but his first choice is the UCs so we will have a long wait no matter what.

I didn’t have access to D26’s portal, I was more curious about the stats of her applicant cohort. I got none of that so I stopped checking that thread.

Today has been a good news day for S26. He has been accepted at Oberlin with a 34K merit award and at UMass Amherst with admission to their honors college and a 16K merit award!

Had a banner day in my house. D26’s first semester grades came out and they are her best grades of her entire high school career despite taking very hard classes this semester! On top of that, she got into her third EA school with good merit money once again! 3 for 3 in EA! We now wait for March schools. But, she’s already into a top choice school for her, so no matter what she’s going somewhere great, and she has options! Such a great way to start the weekend.

Paid the enrollment fee for D26’s enrollment at U of A! Now we are $450 poorer. :joy: Housing enrollment starts 2/1. Housing app fee is $175.

They’re doing housing sign ups differently than in prior years. Up through this past academic year, you could submit a housing application before paying your enrollment fee. And new students who submitted the housing app earlier got 1st dibs in the spring of picking their dorm.

Now the way they’re handling it is you can’t submit a housing application until you’ve first paid the enrollment fee. So you have to commit to enrolling first.

She had to call their IT help desk in order to get her email access working correctly.

Took my kid shopping today to buy her some new shoes + something to wear for her senior pictures and we had a celebratory dinner out. 1 of her BFFs is going to attend ASU, while another BFF only applied to out of state schools. It’ll be interesting to see on graduation day where everybody is going.

Had to provide 3-4 photos of D26 to the school counselors this week. At the graduation ceremony, they have slide shows basically of photos of each kid when they were younger (parents/guardians provide all the pics) and then the last pic is the student’s senior photo + where they’re attending college & what they’re majoring in and that’s displayed as the student is walking across the stage to get their diploma.

They did the same thing when D24 graduated. It was really sweet and very nice to see everybody’s adorable pictures from when they were little kids. Photos from babies, to toddler to elementary school. It got my eyes all sweaty with respect!

I’m bummed that D24 won’t be done with final exams before the graduation ceremony, so she won’t be able to be there in person. But if the planets align correctly, then she WILL be able to help us all move D26 into the dorms in August and I think that’s pretty special.

Congrats to everybody whose kids received a “yes” this week from a college!

Congrats! D26 got into Oberlin as well, and College of Wooster yesterday. So glad she has options after her ED rejection. Now we wait until March for the other 14. …

So exciting!

C26’s school does a slide show with a baby pic and a few pics through the years of each senior, which is shown at an event that celebrates the seniors a week or two before finals week. The graduation ceremony itself is on the football field.
