<p>I would like to connect with parents of incoming UCSB Fall 2010 Freshman. I have not seen any threads to date.</p>
<p>I will start. S is from San Diego. Dad went to UCSB. Any thoughts on dorms, etc. S was just accepted from WL so we are starting all over again with dorm choices, etc.</p>
<p>My D is in the freshman summer start program, so is already down there. What is WL?</p>

<p>Any of the 5 on campus dorms for freshman will be great- every year they have a different make-up/vibe but the the dorms on the campus create a very close freshman experience Hopefully, Santa Catalina which is on the edge of campus- huge and an entity all its own is not the one assigned, but as long as you don’t get the over flow “private dorms”, Tropicana and Fountainblue, it will be fine. Those private dorms are not UCSB dorms , and not filled with only UCSB students. That would be less than ideal- lus they are located smack in the middle of IV- which for a freshman might be a bit much until settled into college.</p>
<p>Did everyone survive this first year?</p>
<p>My son had a fantastic time!! and did very well . Made some friends, got good grades, got a house for next year. It was ALL good. </p>
<p>After a shaky HS career it is nice to see him fit and blossom. He is in CCS which is a perfect fit for him.</p>
