Parents to YES week?

S is invited to YES week. Husband and I want to go with S to visit campus and learn about Yale’s STEM programs. How often do parents go with their kids to YES week? Are there any programs for parents during YES week?

Reading over past articles related to YES-W, there doesn’t seem to be any programs specifically for parents (like there is at Bull Dog Days), but according to this article some parents attended master classes taught by Yale faculty: [Yale Scientific Magazine | The Nation’s Oldest College Science Publication – Yale Engineering & Science Weekend](http://www.yalescientific.org/2011/04/yale-engineering-science-weekend/)

“On Sunday afternoon in Kroon Hall, home of the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, students and their parents attended master classes taught by Yale faculty, an undergraduate research symposium, and an alumni panel on science careers after Yale.”

I’m not sure how many parents actually attend YES-W with their child though.

Please go. It was the best visit. I liked it a lot and parents are welcome and are treated very well. I liked it much better than the Bulldog days. You will love it. My son loved it and that is when he decided that he will attend Yale instead of Harvard or Princeton. He is really very happy there and they offer a lot to the students. So many opportunities for the Science students. He loves Yale a lot and he volunteered to help this year during the YES-Weekend.
As a parent, I had a good time during that weekend and that is when I fell in love with Yale University.
By the way, congratulation to your son. It is an honor to be invited there. Parents pay there way there but they pay for the students. Enjoy and thank god for that opportunity!!.

Many parents come with their kids. I saw so many parents there. You should go. It is great.
You will learn a lot.

gibby & Beyond,
Thanks for your information!
I think we will go there with S. Just did not want to be the only parents there
S was so excited when he received his phone call last week. We are all very thankful.

@angelakk - my son received a LL last year and my husband and I both went. It was a great experience with plenty of other parents there and activities planned for us. My son is now a freshman and YES Weekend was a big part of winning him over. If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me.
