Parents won't let me attend American University of Paris

My dream univesity is the American University of Paris, but my parents are completely against me going. I feel that I should be able to choose which college I want to attend, but ultimately they have the last say, because, while they’re not paying for my college, they are paying for my living expenses. They feel that warrents them to choose which colleges I can and cannot attend. They’ve agreed I can go to Texas if I want. Paris is closer by plane, which makes no sense. If I don’t like it I can transfer out in a semester, I don’t have to wait for the entire year. So my question is, how do I convince my parents to allow me to attend AUP?

Were do you live that Paris is closer than Texas? Well if your parents are dead set on not letting you go to Paris, and they control the living expenses, you really don’t have a choice. Unless you want to pay for the living expenses, that way you would be able to go. If you really want to study in Paris, opt for a study abroad for a year or a semester in Paris

I’d listen to your parents if I were you, it really is a terrible ‘university’.

Why would you want to go to an ‘American’ university in France? Surely the point of studying in another country is to become familiar with that Country. If you want American, stay in America. If you want French go to a French university, and if you can’t speak French to a suffiecient quality, tough.

Most schools offer study abroad programs so if you attend one that has a portal campus in France, you could study in France like you want but still be enrolled at the school your parents are paying for. Sometimes tuition increases slightly and you have to pay for travel but check the schools that you are considering if their study abroad programs include France and email someone about them

go to a US uni, study a semester or year abroad in Paris…then if you like it there, once you’ve graduated you could get a job or go to grad school there.

You have 2 choices.
You could decide to go to Paris anyway, and tell your parents that you will pay for your living expenses yourself (probably with a loan, or money you earn at a job.) If you are paying for all the expenses yourself, they don’t have any say in where you go. Or, you could decide to listen to your parents and allow them to pay for living expenses. It all depends on how badly you want to go to France.
