Paris Hilton to make speech at Harvard

I find it amusing that Paris Hilton is speaking at Harvard next month. I stumbled on the news while surfing the net. Just Google it.

no comment lol

That’s hot.

"Paris Hilton has been selected as Ivy League Harvard University’s Harvard Lampoon Magazine’s Woman of the Year 2008. No, we are not joking.

The Lampoon is Harvard’s comedy magazine. Founded in 1876, the Harvard Lampoon is the world’s oldest continually published humor magazine. Former honorees include, Conan O’Brien, John Updike and William Randolph Hearst.

Paris Hilton will give an on-campus acceptance speech at a ceremony in Harvard Square on February 6th."

Makes sense. She’s a joke. :)

Conan O’Brien, John Updike and William Randolph Hearst = former Women of the Year?

Conan O’Brien, John Updike, William Randolph = Funny people
Paris Hilton = No a funny person, but a joke itself

Won’t she feel somewhat intimidated by all the intelligent people she would have to address to?

I’ll stop by and see what she has to say if I have time. Does anyone know if she is a good speaker? She doesn’t seem very intelligent on TV.

She has claimed in a print interview I saw to know exactly what she is doing in terms of establishing a character. Does Stephen Colbert believe what he says on TV?

Gotta love the Lampoon and their made-up awards.

They’re making fun of the Hasty Pudding with all this - who will be honoring a legitimate woman of the year the same week. (although the Hasty Pudding’s Woman of the Year started out much like a Lampoon fake-honor… they just wanted to get some hot celebrities to visit Harvard).

By all accounts, Stephen Colbert is a nice guy offstage. Google Tina Fey’s discussion with Howard Stern of Paris Hilton behind the scenes.

Lol…this will be good. Someone record it and put it on YouTube!

P.S. Stephen Colbert rocks.

Apparently some news organizations, such as the New York Times, confused the Harvard Lampoon bogus award with the famous annual Hasty Pudding award. Hasty Pudding is annoyed with the Lampoon for promoting the confusion.

hahah! I hope she knows it’s the Lampoon award and not the Hasty Pudding award…

I’m sure she will do fine…about 90% of the guys will be drooling over her, she’ll fit right in…

lol…she’s not that pretty…IMO lol

^^I agree. Her face looks rather pinched and bird-like. Not a true beauty.

That’s mean. I think she is attractive. People just don’t like her because she is a party animal, but if she was compared more often to say…Mother Teresa (long shot) people would think she was the most beautiful woman on earth. So it’s all based on judgements on what she does and not really what she looks like in my opinon.

^^No, it’s perfectly okay with most people to be a party animal provided you have something else to offer, especially if it is something interesting. But among the current crop of Hollywood pop tarts, Paris Hilton is the most enigmatic – exactly what is the source of her celebrity? Why should anyone care about her? She can’t sing. Can’t act. Not particularly beautiful. Can’t write books. Can’t give interesting interviews. She is merely famous for being famous. And she is profoundly self-absorbed. Her deepest and wittiest remark appears to be “That’s hot!”

Her invitation to appear at Harvard is clearly drenched in irony. She is the anti-Harvard, the anti-scholar - the very opposite of every virtue Harvard stands for. And she is proud of it.

When Paris comes to Harvard they should take “Veritas” off the shield and replace it with “Bardus.”

Good…so let her be proud. lol

I’m not pro Paris Hilton, but I’m also not pro talking smack about people I don’t know personally…or in general for that matter.

Oh man I wanna hear this speech!

Hear. Hear.
