<p>DS and a group are going to a large event at Golden Gate Park. Suggestions for out of town parking that would then allow them to hop on public transport? They would need to be able to get back to the car fairly late-probably midnight or 1am.</p>
<p>yikes… is there something going on there that I should know about? We’re heading to SF tomorrow.</p>
<p>BART normally ends service at midnight. Where are the kids coming from? Do the event coordinators have any ideas about parking or transportation? Otherwise, they would have to park in streets near the park (sorry–didn’t realize that sentence would be so awkward!)</p>
<p>ebeeeee - You don’t say where in GG park the event is, so this info may be of limited use, but …</p>
<p>If the event is on the western end of the park, on-street parking is much easier south of GG park and west of 19th Avenue. You should have no trouble finding a spot, but you will have a small hike to the event. If the event is on the eastern end of the park, I can recommend the parking garage at UCSF, which is two (very easy) blocks from the park. Good luck. Have fun!</p>

<p>If you’re entering the Park from the South, you can enter at 25th Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. Go to your left and bear right onto Middle Drive. There, you’ll be able to access the south gate of the festival. You can also enter at 19th Avenue and Lincoln Avenue and cross over on Transverse Drive to Speedway Meadows. This will also take you to the south gate of the festival.</p>
<p>If you’re entering the Park from the North, you can enter at 30th Avenue and Fulton Street and enter straight into Lindley Meadow. You can also enter on 36th Avenue and Fulton Street and enter at the north gate by the Polo Field</p>
<p>Not sure which end of the park that is. They will probably stay with friends in either Mountain View or Oakland. Is one better than the other for BART?</p>
<p>Oakland would be better for Bart. Bart doesn’t go as far down as Mt View, but they could take the train. I don’t know how late that runs, though.</p>

<p>Actually BART won’t be that helpful in getting there - it cuts across the city at a 45 degree angle from Northeast to Southwest - and Golden Gate park is basically in the Northwest portion of the city.</p>
<p>They could take BART to the city and then take a MUNI bus across the city to the park - lots of different ways to do that.</p>
<p>They can also take Caltrain from Mountain View up to the city and then a MUNI bus across to the park. I’d double check the caltrain schedule that day to make sure it runs late enough.</p>
<p>As for driving, assuming they would be coming from the south, my suggestion would be to drive up to near SF State University and then take the Muni bus up 19th ave into the park. That bus runs all the time and is pretty reliable.</p>
<p>oh WOW, wish I was going! I’d describe the location as “mid-park.” It’s a very pretty area. (I used to run on the track around the polo field - Nice!)</p>
<p>Oakland or Mountain View? Much easier from Oakland if you’re taking BART. Just make sure the BART and MUNI are still running at the hour you want to leave. If you can fit your party into a rented SUV or two you might consider driving. From Mountain View take I280 north, which turns into 19th Avenue just inside the city limits. Good luck!</p>
<p>Thanks all. I think they will try driving into SF and parking near USF as was suggested. They can take the MUNI bus from there and if it is too late, I’m sure there will be cabs around and they can pony up to cab back to the car. They can drive out to either Mountain View or Oakland after the show and stay overnight…

<p>Actually USF would work well … parking is harder in that area - that is why I suggested SFSU where parking is a little easier and the 19th Ave. Buses run more often. On the down side, you will be several miles from the concert…</p>
<p>ebeeeee the Outside Lands Festival is a first, and it is the first time anyone will have performed in the park at night. My son’s favorite band will be there along with many others so we are really excited. I think it is going to be quite an adventure!</p>
