Parking in Westwood

My son is a student at USC and wants us to buy him a car to be able to visit family on the Westside and go to Westwood (movies, shopping). Will he be able to find a place to park in Westwood? Are parking charges very high in a public garage? I am concerned because I noticed that the traffic around Westwood Blvd. and Wilshire Blvd. is terrible. At the same time, I can understand my son’s desire for a car (we live on the East coast). I am posting this on the UCLA forum because there must be someone here who is more familiar with the parking situation near UCLA. Thank you.

There’s a public parking garage in the heart of Westwood (Broxton and Weyburn) that I’ve never had trouble finding a spot in. The first two hours are free and $3/hour after that, I believe (and a flat $3 rate after 6pm). Which I think is very reasonable for LA parking.

Hope that helps!

That lot at Broxton/Weyburn really the best option. It can get full at peak hours, in which case there are pay lots that always have space (usually cost 5-7)
