I’ve been trying to pay by phone today for my towers permit, and on the first day they’re taking payments, their lines have been busy all morning. I’m kinda worried by the time I’ll get through all of the limited towers spaces will be taken. Does anyone have any experience with this or have any idea how fast they run out? Thanks.

(Parking Services no longer takes payment through their website. Only in person or by phone.)

You have to go there in person. My daughter was on line by 7:30 AM and was behind about 100 plus people!!! She waited in line for almost 2 hours and learned that the credit card machines weren’t working. Luckly, someone held her place in line while she ran to the ATM to pull out cash! It was not a good morning.

She did get a spot…but not in the location that she wanted.

“Permits for the 2008-09 academic year (Fall, Spring and Summer) will be available for purchase on July 21, 2008. You will be able to order the permit online, but you must pay for it and pick it up at the Parking Services office. The online ordering will be available on July 21, 2008.”

My S did his online, and we have a customer permit registration. We did this on the 19th, actually, which is the date we’d been told to go to the site. It didn’t allow him to pay for it at that time but told him he needs to come in and pay for it. He’s got his place reserved, though, right? He doesn’t have to be there immediately to pay? Last year he just went and purchased it at the parking services location. They didn’t have any of this online stuff, so we don’t know how this works.

Actually, I finally got through and paid on the phone! It took two tries for the credit card to go though, but it worked. I even got an excellent space on the first floor. I just need to go to parking services on move-in day with my drivers license to pick up my permit.

If at first you don’t succeed, keep calling over and over again!

Zebes, you’re only guaranteed a parking permit once you’ve paid. It’s a first come first serve system this year based on time of payment, so he’d better head over to parking services now or start calling there ASAP if he wants to guarantee himself a space.

Whoa! Thanks, DVM. Called the parking office – only took about six tries, but I was using two phones, LOL – and gave them our registration number from the online form and then paid. He’s on the first floor, which is cool. Probably doesn’t have the really close corner like he did last year, but them’s the breaks. My S is becoming a believer when it comes to these forums, LOL, too bad my D still thinks I’m a bit nuts for coming here.

How do you know you are on the first floor??
My daughter got her spot in person at about 9:15 am (West Garage for Tower 1 and 2). She is not sure that she is on the first floor. She thinks she got the ramp up.

When I called and paid, they told me his assigned number, and the girl said it was on the first floor. I have no idea from the number, in particular, that would alert me to this, except for the first two digits are 10-XX. Perhaps the 10 represents first floort and 20-, 30-, etc. would be corresponding. He’s in the East Garage, too, so maybe the numbering’s different between the garages.

Just got a call from D. She went over to check out where her spot is and she is on the first floor, NOT the ramp!!! She said it was a good spot. We are happy now. Apparently the ramp numbers start at 11-11… HOORRAY. All that waiting in the hot sun was not for nothing.

So is the phone payment just for towers parking?

I heard you could register before July 21 (without paying) online and I got through the info part and then it asked for a credit card. So maybe if you’re not buying Towers, you can pay online?
