Is it true that it’s impossible to find parking even with a permit?

You can find parking, but it’s pretty likely that any parking spot you find will be a longer walk from where you need to go than, well, actually walking.

There’s no reason to bring a car unless you have a specific reason to need one.

I’m a transfer student already with a good place to live in Alameda. If I can actually find parking with the permit then I’d much rather drive. Once I get to campus, of course, I’ll walk everywhere until I need to go home again. The problem I heard is that the garages are so full that even with the permit it’s impossible to find parking. I’d like to find out how much truth there is to that statement.

Could you just BART? There is a parking garage 3 blocks from campus (underhill) that is usually pretty empty but I heard permits are pretty pricey.
